i would have hit the "publish" button way before now but this blog is taking so long to write because im completely zapped of energy. pooped ........i sat here staring at the screen for at least 5 minutes.
BLOODY HELL FIRE what was that week 4 run 1 all about???!!!!!
I plugged Laura in and set off out the house and when I heard her tell me what we'd be doing I nearly turned round and went back home!!! i thought Laura would ease me in to week 4 gently, but oh my word no! 3 minute run then a 5 minute run then 3 minute run then 5 minute run. Is she serious?? yes, she bloody was.
the first 3 minutes was actually fine(yes, i did just say a 3 minute run was fine) the first 5 minute run was a shock to the system but I did it. every last step. my feet didnt come far off the ground and it wasn't more than a fast walking pace to some people, but there you go. i think i found every kerb in the town to go up and down so that took some doing. i almost came a cropper with one which i misjudged. im sure it wasnt that high last time? is it increasing with each run? I've got my beady eye on that one for next time..
and then I ran for five whole minutes again. without swearing at Laura too!
and wow! that last 5 minutes was soooooo hard. so hard that when i got to the front door, I put the key up to the lock and didnt have the energy to either put it in or turn it!! i seriously could have stayed there until my partner came home and picked me up!!
but..... the main thing is...... im still breathing..... just.......
off for a very hot and long shower, if i can get up the stairs......
have a feeling im going to sleep tonight.
cheers everyone. Keep on running!!

Cor, I'm impressed. I totally flunked W4R1. I think I just about got half way through and then walked for most of the rest. So well done you, it may have been exhausting but you did it!
Wow - what dedication! You got there though and you're doing really well. You're astonished to have done the longer intervals today - I promise you'll be extra astonished with the quick progress you'll make in the next couple of weeks. Keep on running - these podcasts really do work!
I'm totally impressed! Now, add all those running minutes up and look at your total running minutes today! Can you believe just a few short weeks ago you struggled with those 1 minutes? You are doing fantastically amazing! have some R&R and celebrate your achievement today! I bet you do sleep like a baby tonight! I found I sleep better now since running other then when I wake rolling over in pain from the sore muscles! Gayle
Gayle, i dont think i roll over at all after the first run of a new week!!
it is amazing how far ive come but its soo blood frustrating when my body and lungs struggle and me heads going, "come on"!!!
i cant wait for the day when it all clicks in to place and becomes easier.
cheers Gayle x
Well done AuntieAli I did run 2 tonight and definitely found it a bit easier than run 1. I can't believe that I'm now looking forward to the next run........but now I've noticed whats at the end of week 5!!! Oooerr!
The week 4 podcast had disappeared off my ipod tonight so I had to download it again before I could leave the house. Then as I was doing my brisk warm up walk I realised I still had my reading specs on. They ended up inside my sports bra along with my phone and key as I had no pockets! Thank heaven for strong elastic!
Isabella123- ignorance is bliss sometimes isnt it?!!
strong elastic is a godsend - that and big cups
sounds like your really getting through the runs, thats fantastic! keep on running and before you know it you'll have one of those lovely graduate badges by your name
Well done, I remember crawling home after wk4r1 letting the dog pull me home, but trust me by run 3, you'll still be knackered but able to stagger into the house and then before you know it you will have completed wk5r3 and be wondering what all the fuss was about! Good luck with the rest of wk4
Wonderfully done, Ali!! Exhaustion and sleeping wonderfully at night are just more of the wonderful by-products of becoming runners!! I must ask...if this running is so wonderful for us...why is it soooooooo hard???
I absolutely adore your blogs!! They hit so very close to home!! Just tonight, Gayle and I both tripped over the same curb!! Mind you, it was a curb that we have successfully negotiated 427475056348 times before!! It grew, just like yours did!!! It is a conspiracy!!!
Just so that you know, BLOODY HELL FIRE is quickly becoming my expression of choice!!
cheers Steve! (will be a big cheers on Friday when i do my last run of this week.... hic....!)
i think the old saying "no pain, no gain" may summerise whats happening here with us C25Kers, what do you think?!!
You and Gayle had a problem with the killer kerb too!! theyre everywhere then? they're growing just like them little furry things out of Star Trek (original)? BLOODY HELL FIRE!
forestry tracks ! cow pats!! Meriad - they sound well dangerous to me! put them on the list potential killers!!
only joking!! sounds like you've got a great little route if it takes you through forests. better than pavements. hey ho. i plan to go down my local nature reserve thingy on one of my up coming days off and do one of my runs there for a change.
get me - running in the daylight!! actually, never mind that, get me - US - running at all!!!!
