well, the gremlins were working overtime on this one !
2 rest days is fine physically, BUT the gremlins certainly get to work !
up at 5:45 made a cup of tea but instead of putting on my running gear i thought i'd have another 30 minutes in bed and drink my tea.
The gremlins were poised to pounce !!!
why get up now ? there is always tomorrow ! have another rest day !
it will do you good ! 😈😈😈
I drank my tea and fed the gremlins to my cat ! hahaha
i was out of the door by 06:40 Ready for my penultimate run of the program .
I decided to have Pink Floyd 'Echoes' as this accompanied me on my first 25 min run (seems ages ago now)
set off well, with a reasonable but more importantly, a comfortable pace which incredibly was better than my last run .
im happy as it was comfortable.
i am not over my injury yet , i still get a sciatica type ache , but it is an ache ! not a pain and i actually am now feeling ok so push on past the 5 mins , past the 10 mins enjoying the morning air and the music and feeling good
seems quite soon but then Laura comes in with the halfway message and im thinking yes, i can do that again !
another 5 minutes then around the corner on to the hill ,
it was ok , yes it slows me down but it certainly doesn't fill me with dread like it did on the earlier weeks although i can feel it on my hip.
then the always welcome downhill stretch.
'Echoes' finishes so i know i have around 6 minutes left as its a 24 minute track !
the final little hill to come and i realise in quite a bit further along my route this time, tiring a little but still ok .
hill done and this time the last 2 minutes on the flat , a welcome end to this penultimate C25K Run 😬🏃♂️
Oh, and a happy cat that had Gremlins for breakfast ! 😂

Well done, Ian! Good that you are taking care of your injury and not pushing yourself too hard. Great that you fed the gremlins to your cat! 😂 You had more than your fair share of those this morning!
Fabulous choice of music, too, to see you on your way!
Graduation is peeping up over the horizon! Can’t wait to read your graduation post! 👏👏👏👍
Just be careful where you step. With my experience of cats, there'll be sticky bits of gremlin left ideally placed for you to squelch on them with a bare foot. 🤪
Oh those gremlins!!! A good name for them. I get them often, either on a run or beforehand. Good work on feeding them to the cat! and getting the run done. Wk9, run2... Nearly there!! I'm a little behind you..I'll catch up soon. 😊
Gosh, you do seem so organised, dealing with the gremlins, understanding and working with recovery, good music, you seem pretty good on the hills and knocking on the door of graduation, I feel just the opposite! I will have to start by getting a cat 🤣😂...Enjoy your rest day you deserve it!
Well done. Similar to me. I'm just back from W9r1 which went quite well. I wonder now why I didn't just carry on to 5k as it was a good temperature. Going to be hotter for my next 2 runs. 🤔🤔
Well done Ian ... that is a great post ... and really pleased after your injuries ... you sir, are now just 30 mins of running away from graduating !! You have got this in the bag !!
Wow your pace! So inspirational! I’m only 9.53km/ at week 7 run 1, BUT I am able to run 25 mins so whoop! X not much longer and you’ll be a graduate I look forward to seeing your post!
That's fantastic - so good to hear your injury is not causing too many problems! I have built my physio exercises into quite a routine of strengthening exercises and it is working! Keep it up - only one more run now and then you're free to take running in any direction you want! Great news!
The injury is still bugging me but I know have an initial telephone appointment with a sports physio who is also a marathon runner , so fingers crossed 🤞
I also love the music choice, nice and chilled out! I listen to John Martyn a lot while running - no 'pump, pump' motivational music for me! Am composing a new playlist which is much slower music than my previous list. Keeping relaxed is key!
