I wasn't sure I wanted to run today- it was really hot all day and was making me feel sluggish but I started to get those restless feelings I get on 'run days' so decided to take my chance in the early evening twilight. So right after the Big Brother eviction show (important!) I did my stretches and walked out into the (thankfully) fading heat.
After a pretty good W5R1 I was looking forward to seeing how I went with a longer run. What got me through the first 8mins was the mantra of 'there are only two runs, there are only two runs'. I felt good during the 5min walk, recovering well and a nice breeze was settling in, the street lights came on and there were smiling people out enjoying a leisurely stroll so my mood lifted.
The second 8 mins flew by, helped along by my second mantra of 'Laura wouldn't make me do anything that would hurt me, Laura is my friend'. Is it strange that I have started to see Laura as my own personal HAL? (except far less evil :/ )
Anyway, run 2 done- and I felt really good both physically and mentally at the end. I got home and had the most amazing orange, it was perfectly sweet and satisfying and it reminded me of when I used to play Netball at primary and high school and during the breaks my mum would hand around a lunchbox full of sliced oranges.
