Shoving your mp3 player & house/car keys down your sports bra is not a good idea...

Just sayin'....

Still a bit stiff after Sunday's run this morning so I popped out for a 30 minute shuffle round the village.

For the entire run my house keys have been digging in where they shouldn't which in turn meant my mp3 player was given a gap to slide down and fall out my bra and down the bottom of my top... Spent a far bit of time trying to rearrange keys.... must've looked a bit odd to any passing cars :-O

Oh well, took my mind off the stiffness!

(must get myself a single house key to take out with me, rather than the whole car/house/back door/gate combo that I currently have!)

LOL! I can just imagine you rummaging around in your bra on a dark night! Perhaps it's time us women got bumbags - I remember those from the 80's! BTW, I wonder where men put their keys and MP3 players?! On second thoughts, I don't want to know....

Haha, too much info I think :)

You don't need as anything as big as a bum bag. I have a Karrimor running belt (4 or 5 quid from Sports Direct) which holds my phone and I clip my mp3 player onto the elastic waist band of it. I like to wear it on my hips, not my waist, and it is slim enough to wear under my running shirt.

Thank you Viv! Now I have a visual I really didn't need to have!!! :-)

OMG, that'll weigh you down a bit!! I tend to take my key off the rest of the bunch, don't quite know what I'll do if I lose it :p Well done for getting back out there, my run is tonight, going to give stepping stones a try and still if I still have it in me :)

My legs were/are still stiff, 30 mins free running (shuffling) was hard going this morning. I need to work on picking up my pace, but today was not the day!!

I should take my key off the bunch really but when I am stumbling out the door at 5.50am I just grab the bunch and go....

Good luck for your run later :)

Well, as a bloke... I carry my key on a lanyard round my neck - unless it's cold and my warmer running top has a small zipped pocket in which I place my key. I carry my MP£player/Phone in a wallet attached to my arm...

doggymum profile image
doggymumGraduate in reply toStevetheb

I did look at a wrist holder but it wasn't big enough to take the bunch (why do car key fobs have to be so chunky?) so I guess I'll have to be more organised and take the front door key off the bunch...

I already wear flashing armbands for visibility if I had anything else on my arm it would end up at my elbow I think!

Ha ha, that must have looked funny !! I need to take three keys out with me and just end up holding them in my hand, they do get sweaty though !!

doggymum profile image
doggymumGraduate in reply toca66ie99

Yeah, have tried holding them before but wasn't keen on the sweaty hand/keys combo. Sweaty keys being pulled out my bra I can deal with though! lol

LOL!! I personally dont know how you have room for all that as my sports bra is pretty close fitting and snug......!

My ipod is in an armband carrier and my keys are in a wrist carrier but I do have one for the waist too if I need to carry anything more......make up, brush, straightners, perfume, mirror, purse, ipad, kindle........I joke!!!!!

doggymum profile image
doggymumGraduate in reply toSBG356

Mine is snug and they are usually ok, but they didn't feel 'right' from the off.... lesson learned, single key in the pocket of my capri's from now on.... I think the pocket is just about big enough...

Although now you come to mention taking make-up, perfume etc.......

Made me laugh!!! :-) I always check myself in the mirror and re-apply lipstick before a run! :-)

Now, that's dedication! There was a young woman at Parkrun on Saturday that had a full face of make-up on! I was well impressed, she obviously wasn't expecting to sweat. If I run to work (or even when I walk) I have to wait til I get there to put my 'face' on, otherwise it all just slides off along with the copious amounts of sweat!

This happened to me on Saturday. My cold weather gear has fewer pockets than my more summery ensemble, so I have been experimenting with innovative ways of storing my iphone. It was moving around too much in my jacket pocket, so I stashed it in my 3/4 length running leggings. (For info, I wear small shorts on top of them as to not alarm the locals too much as I stumble around the village) I thought it would be fine against my hip as they trousers were tight, but as I was running, I could feel it moving round to the front and was heading south! It took some fumbling while I was running along to fish it out! I really hope no one was watching!

LOL - why don't the makers of sports wear think about these things? The pocket in the back of my capri's is about big enough for one of the pencils from Ikea!!

I have a Samsung Note which i use for GPS and the Podcasts. Its so big i have to put it in my shorts! Not the most comfortable place i have to say!

Sounds like it could get in the way a bit!

Thank you for this blog, doggymum!!! I have to say that it has given me more giggles and mental pictures of ladies running around with their hands dlown their tops...and their bottoms fishing out everything from iPods, to keys, to SBGs kindle and make-up brush!!

Keep Running...and fishing!! :-)

Thank goodness I am not alone in secreting my phone and keys into my underwear! Initially tried waistband of my sturdy Bridget Jones', but found they were not as sturdy as I thought so now go for inside bra! I've just ordered my graduate top and jacket so hoping there might be a suitable zip pocket so can start to look like a pro instead of a middle-aged mother out for a jog in daughter's clothes including trainers with psychedelic laces. Trainers in sensible adult colours are on my treat list for next week after my graduation run.

I think quite a lot of us do it. At one point I had my keys, phone and mp3 player stuffed down there. I must've looked a little lumpy around the chest area!

Though it's a bit bulky I have one of those belt bags that holds small water bottles.

Usually only need one bottle but I found the having one of the sports bottles with a hole in the middle for ease of carrying was annoying when running and I do need sips of water on my way.

doggymum profile image
doggymumGraduate in reply tosbhoa

i have one of those belts too, but i can only just fit my phone in the pocket of it. Its only a HTC wildfire so not massive. I've only used it a couple of times in really warm weather as I have found I'm ok without water on my runs so far. I just really need to stop being so slack and sort a single key out!

Hi Doggymum :-) - my husband has just bought a new padlock to the garden shedwith a very tiny key. When i go out running i have been instructed to place all keys in shed and pin tiny shed key to.... Yes... My bra. I don't know how I'm better off because it's still there! Come to think of it there is a useless wee slit with a zip (God knows what that's for) in the side of my running jacket but it might fit a tiny key. Doesn't really solve the problem of driving to somewhere to run but this post has given me a LOT of food for thought!! :-) so, thank you for the laughs, Sara xox

It seems to me they design all running gear with the smallest of pockets possible, while car manufacturers make the key fobs as big as they can!! (wonky looking boobs alert!)

Just because we are runners doesn't mean we don't have anything we need to stuff in a pocket or 2... OR 3.... :D

You are sooooo right DoggyMum and, as previously mentioned, we gals do need to be prepared :-)! I think there's a multi-million business out there for a very clever Mary Poppins running belt :-)!! xox

I've got a little kids bumbag belonging to my daughter which just fits my keys and phone and maybe a tissue or two. It gives me great joy to be able to wear it as I tried it on when I started C25K and it didn't tie around my waist. Now it does so I've stolen it ;-)
