Well this morning it was back to wk1 run1 after miserably failing at wk2 and I LOVED IT :-) so good to be out in the fresh air today and the run went well . Also I was sporting my new gear and I am pleased to report my new trainers were so worth the money, I actually felt that I was running on fresh air. I got myself into a good pace from the start and settled my breathing and cannot wait now for tuesday night :-)

Nicely done. Every week is a challenge and week 1 is the most challenging of them all. Sounds like you are well on your way to the right kind of start. It is amazing the difference a good pair of trainers can make.

Im loathed to go out and spend too much on gear, coz knowing me I wont keep it up, but Im only on week two and my old gardening type trainers are making my feet hurt, did you have to pay lots for your new ones?

Hia they were £90.00 but definately worth it, the guy in the shop (up & running) put me on the treadmill and video me. He then played it back and its amazing to watch - as I run my left foot hits the ground, my left foot automatically twists in and so does my right foot but not as much. Therefore he said I need trainers with extra cushioning on the inner to help with the impact as I run. He also said that when your buying trainers for running you need to buy a size bigger than your normal size because your feet swell and that between your big toe and the end of the trainer they recommend a gap of the width of your thumb. I got a size 8.5 in the end due to the toe bit and was sceptical thinking my feet would be all other the place but there not. Now I know what I need I can always look on their website for bargains. All the other gear I got off sports direct website under the running section and got some bargains. But the trainers have made a huge difference I feel like Im running on air now :-)

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that. Ive been wondering why my toes hurt in trainers that are normally comfy. Infact my big toenails on both feet went black. Also your point about once measured properly you can get bargains later. Think I will go and get my shoes sorted asap. Thanks and take care X
