I'm kind of resigned to the fact that I sweat a lot while exercising but it is annoying when I get back from a run feeling OK but looking as if I'm about to collapse. I can't imagine ever doing a park or fun run as I hate seeing anyone when I'm out let alone actually running with a group. Has anyone noticed a big reduction in sweating, going fushia pink, heavy breathing etc as their fitness improves?

No, not for me anyway! I go super red, and have very pale skin so it's very noticeable. I huff and puff like crazy, and sweat buckets. My hair is always soaked through when I finish. Very attractive!! I've done Parkrun twice, and really didn't care as I was concentrating so hard on just finishing. Plus you're surrounded by other sweaty redfaced people, huffing and puffing so who cares!
I guess the thing is once can run for 5K/30 minutes then most people keep pushing themselves a bit further. If you're not sweating, is it a real workout?! That's what I think anyway
I definitely go less blotchy and beetroot coloured! But if you don't sweat, you ain't working hard enough lol!
No change for me, I still go bright red in the face and sweat still pours off my face! On the plus side my face recovers a lot quicker than it used to. No-one cared about the state of my face when I did the parkrun though so I would try to not let that stop you from taking part.
I suppose so, but it would be nice to look at least a little bit fitter & I honestly have never seen anyone else drip quite as much as me. All the super fits that overtake me look like they are having a nice stroll through the park! Oh well, the cooler weather will help (and at least in rain no-one can tell if I'm sweating or not!)
The more minutes I run, the more I sweat so if anything it's going in the opposite direction to what you hoped for!! I've always been a big sweater and wouldn't have it any other way frankly. I might look a state but I know I've worked hard!!
No still sweat and get very red in the face. Indeed when I've done some of the strength podcasts and I combine them with a run as I don't feel right if I haven't worked up a sweat.
However as I've got fitter my nose doesn't run all the time. Maybe my body has finally realised that my feet should run and my nose smell and not the other way round!
I'm noticed I sweated less during my three week 9 runs, but I wasn't really pushing too hard. I aimed for these to be relativity easy-ish runs of between 5 - 6 kms for 30 - 35 mins. Mind you it could have been that I was running in cooler conditions; I think it was about 10°C and I felt comfortable in short-sleeved shirt and shorts.
I think I'm likely to go back to sweating when I try the speed intervals podcast this week.
I recently read something that you actually sweat more the fitter you get, as the body gets better at regulating its temperature efficiently. If that's the case, I must have been superfit from day one
Sadly, no. I don't know anyone who sweats as much as I do. It's disgusting - I drip. It's the one thing I really dislike about running. Still, the positive is that I don't care as much as I used to, because I know I have been working hard for it and it's doing me good (well, not the sweating ). My breathing is a lot better, though.
A new phenonemon for me - been running since March and only in the last 2-3 weeks have I actually started sweating and I NEVER sweat. I couldn't understand what th "splosh" marks on my newspaper were when I got home and sat down for quick read before a shower. I too, look a complete sight after a run - red blotchy face, wild hair and my sausage-like fingers. And now I can add sweat into the equation. Oh, and don't forget the runny nose!
