Has anyone got any tips on how to feel reenergised after a run, as opposed to feeling tired most of the day?

I’m totally new to running and any sort of fitness. I am about to start week 3 of the C25K. I am doing each run every other morning but for the rest of the day after a run, I feel so tired!! I thought I was meant to be feeling energised 😂🙈 I am having a banana before each run and then some toast and peanut butter upon my return, but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips to make me feel that reenergised feeling, as not sure if I’m doing something wrong. Thank you!

Just seen your post and you have the same name as my Granddaughter ! She is call Issywizz 😂

I have just posted a request for tips too and I did run 1 of week 3 yesterday and struggled! Keep going and hopefully we will get there together!

I had breakfast yesterday instead of just a snack but I struggled more!

Good luck 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🙏🌈

Hi, stick with it. I felt a bit like that in week 1 and quite out of breath, but as jo whiley keeps telling me to say to myself it love running, I love running’ that gets me through it 😊

Try having protein based foods after your run, that tends to help me

Thank you. Within half an hour of getting home I ensure to have some peanut butter on toast but am wondering if that’s enough?

You might find it helpful to have a protein drink which might help but I also meant to say make sure you drink water. If you buy protein powder and mix with water that could also work.

I find after cycling that I can get really tired and tend to feel better (but not always) after I have a protein drink. Hope that helps and let me know how it goes.

I can only recommend keeping at it. I’m 65 and hadn’t exercised for 10 years. I found the early runs, although doable, very tiring for the rest of the day. My legs once hurt for 24 hours after a week 3 run which I found quite frightening.

I’m now on week 7 and can easily run for 25 minutes without any after effects! Fantastic sense of achievement to be able to do something that would have been impossible a few months ago. So my message to you is “keep at it”, your body will get stronger as you continue. It sounds odd, but as you carry on, and it’s supposed to get harder, in fact it gets easier.

Good luck and keep running!

That’s so great that you feel so good by week 7! Well done. Yeh I’m going to stick with it, as I am finding that I’m really enjoying it. I just wondered if there was any foods I should eat, or eat at a certain time to refrain from feeling tired 🙈 I am waiting for those endorphins to kick in and feel all this energy people talk about 😊

Give this a go.. 300ml of soya milk plain or choc, 20g vanilla protein powder, 25g of oats, a small banana, Couple a pinches of sweet cinnamon. Then whizz it all up.. in a whizzy thing. Sometimes I add blueberries, chia seeds. Keeps you full a long time and tastes amazing. Keep on running..

Amazing! Thank you. I will give this a go. Does it have to be soya milk, I can use full fat milk can’t I? Although, I wasn’t really wanting to use protein powder...
