I was really surprised today as I realised that I only got told when I'd run 5 minutes then 60s from the end! I miss Laura talking to me and telling me I am doing well (obviously I tell myself that in my head, but still!).
Does anyone else miss Laura as the runs get lo... - Couch to 5K
Does anyone else miss Laura as the runs get longer?
How odd, I can't remember that but I really miss her now as I'm now using my own music post week 9. Maybe she weans us near the end
I noticed that, I think they stopped paying her in the later weeks. I would prefer if she gave random timings, instead of "your half way there, keep going" or "you've 60 seconds left." I would like to hear "you have 2 minutes 13 seconds left so keep it up!"
I think the reasoning is that it's better not to have Laura distract us as we are zoning in to the runs
It would be great to have 5 min Laura warm up and warm down pep talks to tack onto the beginning and end of our own music selections! Maybe she should sell those via iTunes?
Also, there are some runs where you're expecting her to pipe up with something, and you're thinking, Crikey, SURELY she's going to say something soon, this bit's going on forever...! and then she suddenly announces that you're much further along than you thought you were! Which is clever psychology on some of the quite challenging runs.... I like hearing her voice, I find I need the marker points...I haven't quite dared go out without her yet!
Agree - Downloadable Laura pep talks and 5 min walk warm ups and cool downs on iTunes to add to own music would be fab!
I remember doing week 9 and praying to hear Laura's voice telling me how long I had left, but dont miss her since!
My motivational tips include repeating mantras to myself, eg "just put one foot in front of the other, you amazing thing you!" and " relax! you can do this!" when I feel myself tensing up. I also pinched an idea I read in Running made Easy which is counting slowly from 1 to 50 when I am struggling (Paula Radcliffe counts from 1 to 100 apparently!). I also say to myself "What would Fran do now?" if I really think I cant carry on (Fran is my marathon running sister!)
