Recovery running is putting a smile on my face 😊

Well it’s been a while since I’ve jumped puddles on my run, but this morning there were plenty of opportunities to do that. The overnight rain made the woodland cool and fresh and the birds were out in abundance; it was beautiful. Fortunately the track wasn’t too muddy, just a few surface puddles to negotiate as I ran. I’m loving being back out there at a happy slow pace 🐌 😊.

The recovery runs are going well. I’m now starting to reduce the length of my walk intervals and add time to my run sections, with the intention that they will eventually merge into my first continuous run since injury.

The new running insoles have arrived, so I put them into my Mizuno trainers and tried them out today. They definitely put an extra spring in my step and the additional support and cushioning was noticeable. Hopefully they will help fend off a return of the dreaded shin splints.

Thank you Nilsam. I’m taking a slowly slowly approach which seems to be working so far. I feel a little envious of those who are clocking up the miles on their consolidation runs but I am learning to be patient. ☺️

Mmm I know what you mean. Pride comes before a fall and all that...(I will post tomorrow or over the weekend). But you are probably better prepared now going forward. Remember we are in our own plan and although we look to others to motivate us not to compare - we are in our own race! Care fairy talk. (On a laptop so no fairy emojis.) Happy smiley running
