There was a question a few days back about protecting your barcode and lots of people replied that they have it laminated. I've just printed mine off and as there are six on the page I'm wondering do I laminate the whole page and then cut each one out? Or cut each one out and then laminate seperately? Feel a bit silly asking as it's probably obvious, but I'm not very technically minded.
Laminating your Parkrun barcode....? - Couch to 5K
Laminating your Parkrun barcode....?
I laminatd them all and then cut them out as it was easier
Thanks AliB1, I'll do that. All I have to do is run the 5k parkrun now...
I'd been wondering exactly the same thing, notbad! I wondered, if you cut them out after laminating the whole sheet, whether they would be properly sealed? I know nothing about the workings of lamination.
I did the same as AliB and whilst they aren't completely sealed doing it that way its a lot better than dealing with a scrappy/soggy bit of paper at the end of the run.
If I start doing a few more I might treat myself to an ICEtag and then I can just leave it on my laces
I just use sticky back plastic in a blue Peter stylee!
We always have some knocking about for covering the kids school books.
Just realised I didn't laminate mine I used sticky back plastic...is it not the same thing?
Lamination is just a bit sturdier. There will be some youngster amongst you who won't know what this reference is but lamination is what they used to do your "video card" where you put it the paper into a plastic wallet and put the wallet between heated rollers and it seals it all up. The end result is the similar just sticky back plastic is a bit flimsier.
Apologies for the reference to "video cards", if you want to find out what they are then there is likely a good museum about for you to check it out
I would have thought it would be better to cut them all out individually and then laminate them with a gap between each one. Then cut each one out so they are all sealed .
that's what I done and left about 5mm laminated border around each barcode. I've then got one in my wallet, 2 at home, 1 in my bag and 2 in the car!
Have you got your own laminator or did you take them somewhere to be done?
I'm lucky enough to have one at work
Greg_M - my hometown library card in Australia is still like the video cards. Drivers licenses were like that in Queensland up until about 2 years ago!
