Own Playlist
You can either load up your favourite music to an MP3 player, or mobile phone and then organise that into a playlist for your running.
I find setting up and fine-tuning a playlist very enjoyable
I use an Ipod and just make a PlayList called running from my music library. Then if I buy a new CD or better still when my youngest son buys one I add it to my library. His music is better for running to than mine and has got loads of umph to it (faster beat for running).
You can create a play list on Itunes and then save it to your device,i use an i shuffle devise
as it is very light, and will clip to your clothing and you can play your tracks in a random setting or track by track as loaded or you can skip tracks at a press of a button.
You can load a very large no of track to suit any mood.
if you want to listen to your own music but still hear when to run and when to walk, there is an app called GetRunning on Itunes which uses the same interval programme as Laura but you can play your own music in the background and a voice will interupt when it's time to run or walk. You won't get Laura's helpful tips and advice, but you can always liten to those before you start out!
