Keeping safe while running

I've just read about this App in Runner's World and it seems such a good idea that I thought I should share the link with you all. At present it is available for Android phones but will soon be available for iPhones.

I know a lot of us run alone and sometimes maybe in remote places. This app allows nominated friends to monitor your location and track you until you're safely back home. It sends them a red alert if you are in trouble and an amber one if you are feeling uneasy. For £9.99 a year you can allow up to 4 people to be able to track you.

Having got a bit lost during my run today, I think this App could be invaluable and, particularly as the days grow shorter and I'll be doing more running in the dark, I think I'll certainly be investing in it. I'll probably also get it for my teenage son - them I just have to train him to have his phone switched on and not to keep leaving it in daft places ;-)

Anyway, here's the link:

Thanks so much. I will definitely get this, because I run on a trail early in the morning, and there are times when I am by myself for quite a few minutes. Even when someone else does appear on the trail, I still wonder if they pose any danger to me.

What a good idea! Thanks for the link. I've already had a scare one early morning and not been in a remote place since.

Good idea, thanks. You can sometimes feel vulnerable when out running, particularly if you tend to run the same route at the same time.

Thank you so much for this. I won't be using it for running but this is going to be invaluable when I'm out riding my horse. I ride alone, through countryside and it's always been a concern that I might fall off and get hurt and nobody would know where to find me. This could be just the answer for all the people like me who are in the same boat.

Thanks again.
