Went back to do the parkrun in Bryn Bach Park near Tredegar this morning.
Had had a late night cos of watching Olympic ceremony ,followed by interrupted kip due to phone handset making funny noise and a mystery humming/buzzing noise from next door (maybe they have set up an aquarium in their spare bedroom?) so told myself I probably wouldnt be up to going.
I got up at 6.45 as planned and decided I would go up and maybe offer to marshall but wasnt needed so did the run instead.
So glad I did. A lot less people there today (think more people from other parkruns came last week as it was the inaugural one). I had a nice chat with some locals on the walk round to the start. This week, having set out far too quickly last week and suffered, I set out at my own pace, but knew from last week that I could push myself to go faster than I do on my solo runs, and I finished in about 30 secs quicker this week than last (waiting for official time).
Really lovely run, cooler and with a lovely cooling breeze for half the circuit (2.5 laps of a lake) which was very pleasant and helpful on the final stretch.
Have volunteered to marshall next week so if anyone is near and can make it come along! It is a lovely venue for all the family.
