Just interested in how RFL is organised. So many of the ladies here do it I wondered if it was more popular this year, is it RFL season or does it go on all year?
I just seem really aware of it this year and can't remember it being anything like this prominent last year.

The races seem to fizzle out by the end of July, so I guess that they occur during the summer season.
It's a shame it's just for ladies. Although there was one bloke at the Hastings one, who wore a pink stocking over his head!!
I think it always has been a big thing; I don't remember anyone mentioning it on the old NHS site, but it seems to be popular with C25Kers this year. But then I don't rmemember parkrun or other races being mentioned so much before but now, happily, we're all at it
My experience of RfL is that they start in about May through to July. They are growing in number each year too. Many places now do runs on both Saturday and Sunday because so many want to take part They have also started doing 10k RfL events too.
I think the 'season' is a little longer this year because of the appalling weather, a lot have had to be rescheduled as the parks would've been unsafe.
The one where I live (Leicester) has been cancelled twice due to the weather and as yet they haven't rescheduled
Have taken part in RFL 3 times. It is a summer long event which moves round the country, a few years back the organisation of it was taken over by Tescos which has upped its profile and probably why you are getting the feeling that it is "everywhere"- bit like Tescos!!!
I think it may have started off as a breast cancer charity fun run- hence women only-It is a great event and I have seen a few men doing it dressed up as women, who are made to feel welcome as they are entering into the largely non-competitive, supportive, fun feel of the event. I seem to remember that there is also a young peoples run which is for boys and girls.
I do the RFLP every year and this year was my 8th one but the first one I ran thanks to C25K..... They run from the end of May until towards the end of Aug so I'm sure there'll be one near you over the coming weeks. My next race is in Aug and its called The Big Fun Run - again its 5k and you can do it on your own, part of a team or for charity too..... They a running all over the UK and is only £10 to take part. Here's the web link......
My wife's done 4 race for life's now and this year was by far the biggest one I'd been to. So many people, I think the chap on the tannoy said that today, there were over 3000 women taking part in the Croydon RFL. That's a staggering amount.
Greg, may be many will be invited next year as there was a questionnaire sent out to ask if woman wanted men to be included too, which will be good fun too as it can't be considered a family event just now.
Boys I think up to age 11 can run just now with the woman but no men. Apart from the odd one that dresses up us a woman and no one complains about that!
