Motivational Phrases - what keeps you going?

Earlier I saw a post from 'Legion' which had a little picture on it with a phrase that they were going to use as motivation to get through the C25K program.

I've decided to print it off myself and stick it on the wall in front of my treadmill and just wondered if anyone else had little mantra's or motivational words of wisdom so I could get a bit of a collection going on the wall! It will also give me something to look at other than bricks!! :)

    oh and

    Run Fat Boy Run

    What are you doing?

Probably not the ones you want on the wall, but they get me moving when I faulter.

  • LOL I like the 1st one, it appeals to my sense of humour. I will probably be using that tomorrow to get me through W5R2!

  • "Finish this and you can have some chocolate"? :-D

  • Now why didn't I think of that!! This can go straight to the top :)

  • "Positive pants make fast runners" while "Couch potatoes make lazy louts"!

  • I think I'm more of a slow shuffler rather than a fast runner!! :)

  • Thanks for those, I shall be printing them off & sticking those up too.

  • A chart with all the runs listed and a FAT marker to cross them off as they are DONE.

  • I hadn't thought about doing a chart, good idea, thank you.

  • I love Greg M's slogan for the t-shirts - 'I'm a Kenyan on the inside'! This is now my mantra as I struggle to the end of my runs!

  • Yes, I had a little chuckle to myself when I saw that too :)

  • pain is temporary, pride is forever!

  • I like it - thank you :)

  • When my legs are tired I run with my heart...

  • When I am about to reach the halfway point of a run or a programme day I tell myself that I have less to do than I have already done.

  • When I was running this morning, and after I came home, I had the Divine Comedy's 'National Express' playing in my head over and over again - it's hard to get by when your ass is as wide as a small country! That kept me going (and off the couch), lol.

Think I might get my original Motivation phrase put on a t-shirt so I can point at it as I run past people with questioning looks!

  • I am thinking of getting a t-shirt printed I with "Laugh if you want but I'm doing this for me!" I feel very self conscious when running and hate meeting anyone I know!
