Failure! w7r1, 2 and 3 25mins is killing me.

What a terrible week, I just about managed to run the 25 mins last Sunday but my last two 25 mins have been torture. Had to admit defeat and walk part of the way.

I blame my calves, they are so painful, I've always had big calves, ok I'm big all over, but my calves feel very tight as if the muscles are too big for my legs.

Will do some extra stretching exercises for calves then next week try to do week 7 again.

Wish me luck!

Nah, its not luck! You've done it before you'll do it again you'll see.

You are just starting to get to those times where you can't overlook the stiffnesses. I think you are doing completely the right thing; take a day or two out loads of stretching then you'll be up an at 'em 8-)

Just remember to keep doing them, don't stop once they feel better - don't forget you're a runner now!

I had really painful shinsplints caused (i think) by tight calfs.

I did a lot of stretching exercises and used my favourite new toy - a foam roller.

It is brilliant for calf muscles and did the trick very quickly.

I`m an absolute beginner so can only say what worked for me.

Greg ^^^ has posted some great advice in his blogs so have a wee look.

Good luck, you have come so far already.
