Had to run first run of week7 on my own and epic failure!! Only managed to run about 13 mins then had to stop and walk calves killing me. Managed another 5 mins then the last min. A big disappointment.

I did this at the same time & was soundly told off by the people here. They told me it was a bad run not a failure. We all have a bad run now & again & now you've got yours under you belt. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, have a good rest & try again. Be nice to yourself. I do feel your disappointment because I remember how I felt but in the big scheme of things it's just one run & you have plenty more good ones to come.

It is gutting when it happens, but one bad run is a blip, that's all! Wouldn't everyone be runners if it was all easy? Just keep telling yourself "I'm out there, I'm doing this and I will have a better run" and think of all the people sat at home wishing they were runners.

Thanks that's a good way if looking at it.

Hi Tizzie

We all have the odd bad day but at least you can be happy that you made the effort

I find that a short quick walk to warm up followed by a good stretch before starting my run helps loosen the muscles

Also started doing leg strengthening exercises on alternative days eg bunnie hops, bench jumps, squats and jumping lunges. I downloaded some fee exercise from ptprograms.com.au

Give it a try and see how you go and just keep on plodding away at it and the results will come

That happened to me in week 6 - gutted! Try not to be too hard on yourself, as everyone says take a rest & then give it a go. This isn't a competition and we will all get there in our own time. You're still doing amazingly well :)

I found Week 7 the hardest, too! It took 6 attempts to get through the 3 runs, and I thought I'd reached my limit. Then Weeks 8 and 9 were fine! Keep at it! Just think how far you've come since Week 1!

I've had 3 incomplete runs in a row. I'm still happy with how far I've got. Think back to W1. Look at you now! I'm doing W5 R2 again today. I'm finally loving it! Just Pick yourself up and get ready to go again.

Thank you everybody for the kind words. I'm going to try and change my route like Laura suggested as well as part of it I don't like, too dark and pavement up and down!! I must concentrate on how far I've come as you say seven weeks ago I couldn't run for the 60 secs.

Just a bad run and a blip- Have a good rest and prepare well for your next run. Bananas or water melon always eaten an hour before work for me as well as being throughly hydrated (always nip to the loo just before though!). I have just completed week 8 and I think the reason that I haven't stopped is because I go at a snails pace for the first 5 minutes. I am not much quicker after that but look how far we have all come. Good luck for you next run and I am sure your daughter will spur you on- Laura will too! :)

I'm stuck in week 7 too, so I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. I had a bad run two weeks ago, not so much the run that was bad but the exhaustion and depression afterwards, and that's put me off. Now I am doing short runs entirely for the fun of it and to keep my legs used to the idea, and at some point I will get serious again and try for 25 mins. I'm also doing yoga and minfulness exercises and enjoying different ways of being in my body. It's not an exam, I haven't failed....I really haven't. It's funny how we think like that, though.
