W7R1 - didn't manage it again!

Went out in the gales at lunchtime, determined to give it my best shot and didn't make it again. Ran for 2 mins then had a mp3 mishap, stopped to put that right and started again, thinking "okay, go for 27 mins". Got to 22 mins and completely ran out of steam. So annoying, I've already done this on W6R3, so why not now???

Not too disheartened, know from reading this wonderful site that lots of people have bad runs/days/weeks but carry on and do get to graduation, so will treat this has another training/strengthening run and try again after a nice rest over the weekend.

Hope everyone running over the weekend has a good one.

I think that these final weeks of running are so similar in length (ranging between 25 and 30 mins) that you may go further on one and not far enough on others, but as long as you are heading towards the 30 mins, dont worry too much. Just keep remembering those first weeks and be proud! :)

Good luck with the rest of the programme!

Iam out tomorrow morning on W8R2 and feeling a bit anxious but at this stage it is mind over matter, for me anyway. :)

Okay, I will try to focus on that, you are right, have come so far since week 1.

Good luck with your run tomorrow.

There are definitely bad days, and it just means you'll appreciate the good ones all the more :)

i know this is true from reading the site, just so hard when it's two runs on the trot !!

Thanks for your support.

We all have our not so satisfying runs but you did most of the run so it is all good stuff. Just the mental block maybe. Try to run a little slower next time and tell yourself how great you feel and how much you are enjoying the benefits, this might help you relax and give you positive thoughts. Good luck you will get there.

Thanks mrslazy, I think you are right, at this stage is it a mental block. I do try to run slower but worried if too slow then nowhere to go other than stop!!

I know I can do it eventually but it is nice to get support, helps me to diminish the " I can't do it" demons in my head!

thank goodness I am not alone,I am struggling with week 7,gave up yesterday, blamed the wind/rain but that was just a good excuse as my brain is telling me to stop/give up before I even get going,I have really enjoyed it up to now but finding it so hard, thought about going back to week 6?

Give week7 another go. You are fit enough to do it now after all the hard work you've done in the earlier weeks. Maybe go a little bit slower than you've done before so that you can definitely do it & then if you want, speed up in the last couple of minutes. I struggled on W7 as well. I think its the real breakthru' week in terms of your body getting used to running continuously and mastering those mental demons. Good luck!

hi jenniej

thank you for your reply, just went and did week 6 run 2,it was ok,i think i seem to have a real mental block! my brain is saying stop this is mad ! no sure how i over come this, but thank you for you reply, going to run with a friend tomorrow who is week 9 so lets hope i can keep up !! eek

I feel your pain as I am struggling with getting going on Week 7 due to injury and I know I can do it, just want to get on with it! Just stick at it and tell yourself that there's no time limit, just keep going until you can get there - 22 mins is still phenomenal!! x
