Whats the best type of treadmill?: Thinking of... - Couch to 5K
Whats the best type of treadmill?
Some of the cheap ones have low upper speed limits, that might not be a problem Check out the argos website, there are loads of reviews from users of different ones, these can often help in deciding what will be best for you.
For your budget, I would not get a new one as you will end up with a machine that frustrates you no end. I'd consider eBay, there are a lot of machines out there that have hardly been used and end up as clothes horses in peoples bedrooms. I bought a Reebok iRun machine, which is one of the most compact, but sturdy machines that you can buy. It was £500-£600 new, but I picked up up almost brand new for £200. There are some bargains out there. Consider your space though, as these machines take up a lot of room and even the most compact on the market is huge. I'd steer cleer of manual / magnetic, you might was well go outside. For people who are restricted (i.e. my husband works nights and I have a little boy and therefore can't leave him at home on his own) a treadmill is a fantastic addition and C25K can happily be acheived on one.
I have one from Maxima Fitness from amazon - bit more than your budget but really happy with it. I spent ages reading reviews on amazon. You definely need to go for a motorized one and watch out for the maximum speed limit as some are just good for speed walking rather than running.
