Had to cancel week 7 run 3 because of developing a low dull ache/pain in my right hip. So much want to push on but my body is definitely saying no. I'm listening so not running, But - help me here team - is it normal to feel so frustrated? i think this whole run thing has got to me.... Sad :-(

I am a "mature" (54) runner as well. I think as you get older you have to listen to your body or you could injure yourself and have to start all over again. I have done this process much slower than the program suggests . Most weeks I have only ruin twice instead of three times as I am playing ladies football as well and I just didn't think my body would take both. I think you are wise to rest. :-) You will back stronger ! You'll get there....just think how far you have come! Think of the differences in your fitness from week 1 till now.!!!

Hi Tapira. Sounds like you're hooked. I think frustration is part of the game, but I found that I had to differentiate between not being bothered (have to get througt that) and needing to ease off (you need to recover from previous effort). You should definitely listen to your body and your gut feeling. But you've made it to week 7 - an amazing achievement. So my advice(for what it's worth) would be to back off for a week or two until you feel able to step back up to the full 3 runs per week. Best of luck, and keep in touch.

Thanks Regy and Malcy - I woke up this morning feeling much better and was able to fit in a run at lunchtime. Thought I'd go fairly slowly (not that I'm ever fast!) and all seems OK, but I will definitely not push it.

Yep you have the running bug... Anyone who says 'was able to fit in a run at lunchtime' is definitely hooked! And how awesome is it to say those words (unthinkable only 7 short weeks ago)?

You are right, it would have been utterly unthinkable 7 weeks ago! I feel pretty excited about week 8 now... Hope your post-grad running is going well
