Tiredness - W5/R3

I completed Run 3 of Week 5 this morning and felt great afterwards. But mid-afternoon I felt really tired and fell asleep on the sofa for a good few hours! This was my first big run today, but is it normal to feel so tired afterwards?

Well done on the 20min run Jade :)

I don't know if it is normal....there may be a number of other factors to consider, such as; did you get a good nights sleep before, would you say your body was properly 'fueled', what did you eat for lunch???

Sometimes I can fall asleep on the sofa without going for a run :)

You'll probably find it was a one off. Sometimes I feel like I can out and run again and sometimes I feel like I don't have the energy to make it to the shower!

Thanks!

I did have a good night and ate pretty well at lunch. Some days I seem to flop onto the sofa after my shower and veg out for the rest of it!!

I just hope it was a one-off, I want to be fit and full of beans when I graduate!! :-D

Yeah, sometimes. I would just enjoy the chance for a snooze :-)

Yes, sometimes I do get really tired and other times I don't. I can't put it down to eating, drinking or doing certain things etc, so I just accept that's how it gets me sometimes. Well done on doing the run though! :)

if I sit on the settee with a cuppa & get warm & cosy I have a tendancy to nod off whether I have run or not :) at any time of the day.

perhaps knowing that you had this milestone to run (well done :) ) was in the back of your mind & you didnt get a proper nights sleep & with all the anticipation & woohoos in completing it, your body just needed to relax, now that it was over :)

I too felt particularly tired after that first big run. I was like my whole being had given its all and I was drained. I continue to get drained after a significant increase in effort but put it down to my body learning to go that bit further and do more. Not to mention starting the day earlier than I ever have. My body clock has had a complete re-set.

Now when I increase my running time I make a real effort to rehydrate and eat well afterwards to help my energy level. I find that helps.
