I'm sitting here, listening to the rain pound down, and at a loss at what to do! I'm supposed to be starting W9 R1 today, but the weather is so horrible out there i dont know wether i should risk it ...

Does anyone dare to go running in the pouring rain?

Hi KittyCatt

Basically, you're going to get wet! I found it lovely and cooling when I got rained on and felt really good running out in the weather while everyone else was huddled in doorways and shelters!

I can remember Paula Radcliffe saying she loved the rain as there seems to be more oxygen about.

You will get cold quite quickly afterwards so have a nice hot bath (sound like my mum!) when you get in. And watch where you're running as it can get just a little slippery. Good luck!

I started today's run in a bit of light rain which had got heavier in the last 5/10 mins, got wet but felt good when I got in a lovely hot bath. Would not choose to start out in heavy rain (you get cold wet and demoralised) but a light shower I found comfortable enough. I feel I have to go out what ever the weather due to race of 8.5 miles in June - some way to go in training for that. So no would not really want to run in the pouring rain, if you can run later then you will enjoy it more if its not raining, have a great day :)

I never go out if it's raining because I HATE being cold. However, Starting out in the pouring rain is very different; if it starts raining whilst I'm already on a run then I really quite like it!

So, if it was me I would wait until it stopped raining, and if no luck then wait until tomorrow (feeble girlie but don't care! ;) )

I don't like starting in anything more than drizzle, but with a hat, I don't mind running in the rain, it helps to keep me cool and there are fewer people in the park. I ran through a puddle this morning, not concentrating, and my running shoes are quite porous so that was a bit of a 'yuk' moment.

Did you do it??!!!! I love running in the rain, it's very cooling and I find it a lot easier somehow, perhaps I'm just a bit strange ;)
