C25K graduates...... do you still do the 5min warm up walk before each run?

I finished the programme 4 weeks ago and still religiously do the brisk 5 min walk to warm up before each run. However my super-sporty-brother looked at me like I was loony when I insisted on doing it before I ran with him.

Is it always necessary?

What about before a race/parkrun?

Yup, I always do. Makes pefect sense, and it's not going to do any harm, so why not?

Yep, I do too. In fact I do 12 minutes to climb two hills before I start running!

always, without fail. I also do a couple of stretches after my run as if I dont my calf muscle & front shin aches.

you hear of marathon runners dropping dead straight after a marathon so perhaps this really is needed to bring the heart rate back down slowly.

oh well that puts me of training for any marathons then shellymcb lol i would do the warm up and cool downs and stretches as your body needs to prepare itself.
