I was just wondering do you still do the warm up walk after graduating?? I'm back to work and finding time to run is tricky, it would be nice to be able to just literally run out the front door. Could I do maybe squats, knee ups or something like that quickly before I go instead??
Thanks ๐

Yes, it is still advisable to do a warm up walk before you run and and short walk after you run, other exercises like you mention are fine as well, especially the day you don't run, not really advisable to run immediately you leave the house.
Thanks for the advice, I saw someone on my street leave her house and start running straight away and just wondered if it was OK. I'll stick to a walk first
Hi, yeah I know my point too it's not that much extra is it really I guess i was trying to cut a little time so I'm not out of the house too long because of the kids, even though they are old enough I've never left them in the evening. Worrying mother ๐
There was a top knee surgeon in the press last year who said most running injuries he sees are down to insufficient warm up... so yes itโs important.
It doesnโt have to be a walk... some dynamic stretching will do the job, but we need to work those muscles for a good few minutes.
bit late to this party but if I'm feeling pushed for time I try to start my warm up while I'm still inside - maybe I walk briskly round the flat while putting stuff away, just try not to be too stop-start! If you just want to minimise time away from the kids, could you walk around inside to start your warm-up? Maybe that's what the person you saw does!
This is pretty good for the cool down part too especially when it's wet and cold outside then you're not doing your cool-down walk out there getting steadily more frozen!
