Just a question.... I know this program is about being able to run for 30 mins, but we all secretly want to achieve 5K..... do you include the warm up/down walks in your distance covered?
Do you include the warm up walk when recording... - Couch to 5K
Do you include the warm up walk when recording distance covered?
I used to when I was doing the runs with walking intervals but once the walking bits disappeared I just start and stop with the run.
I've got to the part in the program where the runs are just one long run, so i shall be doing this.
I don't. I can already walk for miles so it seems counterproductive to include that as i'm trying to measure my running. I think the best thing though is not to measure anything at all.
Never
If you want to know how far you ran, just measure the running and then you can see your average running pace, otherwise, if you include the walking, then your average pace will be for the running and walking combined, although obviously a longer distance.
It all depends what you want to measure.
I don't include the warm up or warm down in my records.
Ha, When doing the C25k plan I started recording the distances once I got to Wk7. I did include the warm up walk because I thought I should start running as soon as Laura said 'go start running' I was worried I would drop my phone if I started fumbling with it at that point. As soon as I stopped running I would stop the recording though. This was fine as I still could compare my stats. It is fun to have a record of your achievements..
Now though I warm up, then start the recording so just the running...😊
I just record the running bit. Sometimes the warming bit can last some time 😉
No.
I included meeting mine, as everything was an achievement. Then when it got to one long run it felt even more of an achievement.
No, for me it was all about running 5k
I currently include the 5 min walks at beginning and end as to me the whole thing was the 'run' however I have just been thinking I should stop including those as I'd like to see what my actual running is.
Oh, was I the only one counting all together? I treated it all as a one workout so I started Endomondo when I go oit the door and stop it when I was back.
Maybe when my long runs become 1 chunk runs, I'll change it, to see my actual running time, distance & pace.
I still do a 5 min warm up walk and 5 min cool down walk (plus stretches), but I don't include them as 'mileage'.
Though I try to do these walks at 6 Kmph - so they add up to an extra 1 km each run
If your aim is solely to reach 5k then why not just walk the whole thing. If you want to know how far you can run, then just record the runs.
