So today I completed run 3 of week 8, on a new route to prepare for next week's 30 minute runs. My old route, on which I've run all my runs except today's, just isn't long enough to run for 30 minutes, without extending it on to a main road without a footpath. My new route is fine and I felt, at the end of the 28 minute run phase, that I could just have kept going and going. But, I said to myself, stay with the programme, listen to Steve C, and don't overdo it. Looking forward now to Week9 Run1, although I'm having trouble believing I've made it this far.

Week 8 Run 3 done and dusted

well done you and if you feel you have more in the tank then that’s a real help for podium week. Good job done!👍

”Stay with the programme”! Yes! So right! Listen to Steve C!
Fabulous run! And isn’t it exciting to break open a new route!

Congratulations on almost completing C25K on running run 3 of week 8, only 3/30 minute runs until you graduate, so glad that you have found a new running route where you don't need to run on a main road without a pavement, even running on a quiet country road can be dangerous with some blind bends with a car coming in the opposite direction*I wish you luck with your graduation run ✔️🏃🏾
*there has been a bit of a debate regarding which side of the road a runner should run on, I have been a cyclist for much much longer than running, of course I cycle on the left side of the road but I am not a road runner, but if I was, unlike walking facing traffic on the right side of the road I think a runner, especially a fast runner should also run on the left side like a cyclist does, this is open to debate.
Hi. Thanks for your encouragement. I too am a cyclist and obey the rules of the road when I'm on my bike. I had a job delivering cycle training in schools a while ago so my go-to guide was John Franklin's book Cyclecraft. My old, and my new running routes are on Cornish lanes without footpaths so where to run is tricky. Traffic speed tends to be moderate due to visibility issues, so I have adopted a running position that takes some of the lessons from John Franklin and applies them to running. So, I'm on the right for most of the time, avoiding the gravel on the centre line, except for right hand bends when I swap over to the left. When a vehicle approaches from the front, if the driver doesn't seem to be slowing down I move over to the left, so I'm sure the driver can see me (I wear hi vis for running), a bit like moving to primary position on a bike on the road. Usually they will slow so that we can pass each other safely. Vehicles approaching from the rear are more tricky because there less time for "negotiation", so I tend to keep running until I reach a safe passing place. I've only had one negative comment, and I'm still in one piece, so it seems to be working OK at the moment.

Excellent post and advice from you FoleyB✔️

Good work, I'm at the same stage having returned to the programme after a long time out.
Geordie start!
