Week 7 run 2

Thursday saw me complete the second run of week 7, another 25 minuter, that for tech reasons i did alone. No Steve Cram to tell me when to run, only my dumb watch to time the run phase. I used a bike computer for the Strava feed. HR was high because this was the fastest run ive done so far. Not sure why, but boy, it felt hard.

Sometimes having a coach is really helpful just because from time to time you may be feeling faster or slower and the interim time checks gave you a good sense of where you are in your run.

Sometimes being coachless gives you freedom - the downside being you have to be much more self aware of pace. If you run the same route that’s useful because you know roughly where you usually are.

Even when I run coachless I still use Map My Run and the Mechanical Voice Lady prompts keep me more or less to time.

If it felt tough then really engage snail minus two speed, it’s better to finish under control than not finish because of overcooking the pace. This run is just another brick in the wall of your resilience/ next time out you know the effort necessary.

Good luck for R 3 and that the tech does not muck around with you

I think Jancanrunagain has shared some really good thoughts on this.

The only thing I want to add is that it is practically the C25K law for one of the runs in Weeks 7-9 to feel heavy going regardless - it's character (ie long term runner) building!

OK I see that. It's a bit like learning to love climbing on a bike

Well done, it's not easy got sure!

Getting through the hard runs shows us we can do it even when it's difficult, and it makes the easier ones all the sweeter 😊

Hope week 7, run 3 goes well 🏃‍♂️‍➡️
