Today’s picture describes my day. I was planning on a mid morning run for a change, and I kinda did that.
No cider last night, pretty well hydrated, feeling great. Went to bed with plans of dropping little one at school, walking up to the park and doing my run.
All was on track until 2:30am... work call and it didn’t end until just before 7. Little one to school, home, food, brew, bed. Didn’t sleep much as the brain was still whizzing. Got up, little one back, fed her. Couldn’t tell if it was Tuesday or Wednesday without looking. Hydration not the best so water, water and more water... followed by regular need for the loo. About to give up on the idea of running today, but then I passed my shoes... got changed and laced up. Maybe I could get through the run? I’ll try at least.
Slow start, but had half mile updates on and every one was faster than the last. 2.3 miles, 25 effortless minutes, not out of breath, and I’m really confused as there’s no way that run shouldn’t have sucked. Elated, but don’t feel like I’ve been running... no leg ache. I’m either still dreaming, or I’m too tired to hurt.
Will prepare better next time!

Sorry but this made me laugh!! Well done for sticking to plan against the odds. Hopefully u won't be paying for this tommoro! And can get a good night's sleep tonight
Good job! I've been surprised like that – a bad night's sleep, too much wine the night before, running after a curry – the sort of things you think will really mess up your run, but it all just goes fine. Onwards and upwards!
Knee still hurts but the pain is easing a bit. I'm going to test it with a walk on Friday. If it's fine on the walk, then I'm going to test it with week 1 from the programme, and if that's ok, then I'll start back on week 4.
The only way I can start to explain it is I was on autopilot... I didn’t think about anything, I was aware that the pace was increasing and every notification was the average pace, so I must have finished quite fast. I did try to slow down at one point, obviously I was too tired to do it. If I try the same again it’ll be the hardest run of my life no doubt.
This sounds like my kind of day before a run! Well done for getting out there!!!
I usually just get my stuff on and go and try not to think about it and talk myself out of it! The run is usually a struggle to start and then autopilot kicks in and then I enjoy being out there-it's always worth it in the end the feeling you get for completing a segment from the podcasts!
The great thing is if we rewind a few weeks we’d have been happy to be handed an excuse... we are so much stronger in all ways than when we started this.
So true! I was all prepared for my 20 min run today but ironically that storm is just about to hit-can’t get out before as the wee ones have swimming lessons then husbands at work 🙁 so for the first time I’m going to have to cancel!!!! I’ve had less sleep than usual and woke really tired so I’ll spend the time having a catch up nap and be even more prepared for it tomorrow !!!
I was quite excited about doing the 20 min run - I don’t want an excuse not to go!!!
😆 it’s karma isn’t it for talking about it! I’ve jinxed it 🤷♀️🤣
They do say your body adapts, maybe this is an example of it! Or more unusually, matter over mind for once, your body could do it but your mind wasn't quite on the same page! Sorry if that doesn't make sense...Either way you smashed it and very well done.
