Hi all! I've just discovered this forum. Has anybody else here been mad enough to start on c25k for the first time a few days short of their 81st birthday, and in the middle of winter? My running speed is a very slow jog, not very much faster than a walk but it does involve lifting each foot off the ground before the other lands so it qualifies as running. It's all going well so far and I completed week 5 run 3 today. The 20 minutes was hard but I arranged for the last couple of minutes to be very slightly downhill (after previously going up the same hill) which helped to get to the end.
Week 5 Done!: Hi all! I've just discovered this... - Couch to 5K
Week 5 Done!

Well done!!! Slow is good!
I am fortunate to have an out and back route of ca total 5k, and when I turn around and run back home, there is a slight downward gradient. So I know the joys of a downhill run
And it feels so great! Enjoy!

wow!! You are fantastic N2mac ..what an inspiration you are!!?? Well done on completing week 5…I cannot wait to see you graduate!! 🏃♀️

I'm not quite as mad as you but getting there! And you are an inspiration. Well done for getting out there. I'm about to do W5 next week (I wimped out today because of the truly foul weather and I have work tomorrow so leave and get home in the dark). If any thoughts of not doing it enter my mind, I'll be saying, if N2mac can, then so can I.
Very best wishes for your running career. I'll be looking forward to future reports. xx

Congratulations to you N2mac on completing run 3 of week 5 of C25K at the tender age of 80, well done, onwards and upwards to week 6 but be careful as the first 2 runs are back again to interval walks and runs

Welcome and well done to you.. I am a mere babe at 74, soon to be 75 and started at 65... !
The key for many is slow and steady. It works; getting us where we wish to be , injury free and enjoyably ! ( Hey, a bit of a rhyme going on there) !
Some core strength and stamina work on some of the essential rest days too? There running body need plenty of TLC and there are loads of ideas on the Strength and Flex Forum...As the runs get longer, our body does need the support to keep us moving!

ROCK ON 🎸
Well done!!! And happy birthday for whenever your birthday is!
