well it has been a while since I was last on this site, a lot had changed since then. My wife of 50 years died in August last year, but in continued my running and swimming. I now swim every day for 45 minutes, I have done several parkruns, or as I like to call them park staggers, but at least I get to the end of the run, I even enjoy volunteering at the run to assist others.

Best thing I ever did was begin the coach to 5 k, excellent program, good luck to everyone who is on it or considering starting, I’m 76 year of age and if I can do it anyone can do it x

I'm sorry about the loss of your wife but cheered that you have found that your exercising has continued. I feel very much as you do about Parkrun - it is a wonderful institution. I'm a fellow "staggerer" and share the same goal of "just getting round" and I always get a lift from reminding myself that, compared to most folk of our respective ages, we're in a tiny minority investing in our health in this way. Also, that feeling when I pass the finish has a price above rubies for me. Good luck on today's stagger!

aw  Busboyglyn …your post is heart warming & heart breaking at the same time…I’m so sorry for the loss of your lovely wife, I’m sure that has left a massive hole in your life…but it sounds like you have tried to keep some discipline for yourself with your running and swimming, both of which I am sure are a great help for you as you work your way through your grief…be kind to yourself, you have many friends on here who are going through tough times I’m sure and we’re all here to prop each other up when needed. Well done for being involved in ‘Park stagger!!!’ (I like that!!) I’m sure your volunteering is helping others in their journey 🙂 such a kind thing to do
