Week Four, Run Three

Well I haven't Garmin'd or Strava'd this evening, because with the wet autumn leaves and the snow underfoot, I slowed down (even more) to watch my step tonight. I was frightened of slipping - but concentrating where I placed my feet did rather take my mind off the run !

I will admit it was a real effort to leave the house but (as always) the afterglow was well worth it. I'm feeling pretty smug - there were very few dog walkers or even pedestrians about tonight.

Goodbye Week Four. Let's hope the snow clears for the next run on Thursday. But if I can go out in weather like this, nothing will stop me now !!

well done mummybowles …sometimes the weather can be off putting & when I first started running I was scared to go out in it but once I’d done it & found that I’d survived…it didn’t put me off again 😉

Cheers - just back from it! Very icy - spent most of my time running along the edge between path and grass!! 😉

Congratulations to you mummybowles on completing week 4 of C25K in ice and snow with leaves underfoot, you took it slow and steady, well done, onwards and upwards to week 5 on Thursday, not too sure if the weather will be milder by then, the weather forecast says it's to remain cold until Sunday so once again be very careful with your running.

Will do thanks Al. I don't mind the cold so much, just the risk of slipping. I'll take my time (as ever)!

All of the above and much more. You did well to brave the snow and the slippery terrain. You have given me inspiration for tomorrow as I was maybe going to chicken out and just jump on my treadmill. However now I’ve read your post I shall be going out running instead …..obviously if it’s too icy 🥶 then it will be be a no show with the running but I shall definitely be out walking. Well done mummybowles you are doing fab with your C25K but take please.👏👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🙋‍♀️

Nice to have the option Folkylass. If I had a treadmill, I might have used it. I've looked at a second hand one but my OH says it'll just stand in the corner gathering dust after a fortnight! He may be right. I do prefer outdoors

Yes I totally like you prefer the outside however I have the treadmill for very wet weather 🤣

🍏👍⭐️ mummybowles You definitely have a runners mindset!! Week 5 here you come! Soft snow underfoot is wonderful but ICE is a no no for me! Keep safe & your joy is infectious. Well done! Xx

Thanks very much ! Yes, will definitely avoiding running if it's icy. Don't want any injury to stop my progress

well done , I’ve just done week 4 run 1 yesterday, seemed an age running for 5 mins even when Steve Cram said your half a way through I thought Heavens Im surely more than 1/2 way. Congratulations on running in the cold my hands were freezing and I haven’t invested in any proper running attire just an old pair of Primark joggers!!

Congratulations

Yes those five minutes seem to take a long time at first, don't they? You're only two runs behind me - keep up the good work

I’m thinking of running on the road edges as it’s getting very slippery on the pavements doing this programme. I don’t want to slip and have a set back in trying to complete it !.

Just done the second run of week 4 , judging the pace is probably the hardest thing to achieve , also what to wear and whether I’ve put to much clothing on which i must have done as I was sweating even in the cold weather. Maybe forget the hat next time !!

I must admit I find it very rewarding reading yours and others comments considering I’m doing it on my own , I honestly don’t get it when people say you get addicted to the pleasure of running !!, maybe one day hopefully!!.

I know what you mean. I'm never keen to get out there ! But we're not really on our own, as I'm following you and lots of others on here for support and motivation. I'm also running on the edge of the roads as they've been gritted and our pavements are slippy. Remember to run into oncoming cars (not literally) and not let them approach you from behind. And wear hi visible clothing. Stay safe out there !

That's terrific!! The weather would make me frightened of slipping on paved surfaces, too! Glad you took it nice and slow...

Best on Week 5!!
