week4 run 1

Well I think I got over confident after completing week 3, nugget and I did not enjoy w4r1. To say it was a comedy of errors would be an understatement with lots of stoppages and, I’ll admit tears on my part. It just wasn’t my day for running I guess. Nugget was super distracted too so I don’t think it was her day for a run either. The 3 minute intervals were actually worse than the 5 minute ones and I gave up on the second 3 minute interval after about 2 mins. Furthermore I miscalculated the route back which meant I had to stop to cross a busy road with 1.40 left on the last 5 min run. Nuggets’ collar slipped off in the middle of the road so that was pretty scary with a truck zooming towards us. My stupid fault she should have had her harness on but it was in the wash. Fortunately she’s a good girl and we got it back on with minimal fuss and across intact. I think I’ll repeat the run because while it was completed….mostly it just wasn’t a smooth run and I was disappointed in it over all but it’s the most running I’ve done so far on this turn round so it’s a positive really….I’m trying to convince myself.

🍏🤗🤗 A hug for both you & Nugget. You put your trainers on & in spite of it being a run that reduced you to tears you completed it! That makes you a winner & you can definitely call yourself a runner. You have a runners mindset! It’s up to you whether you carry on to 4:2 or repeat this one. Every run prepares you for the next & no matter how tough it felt if you completed it you are entitled to move on. You will have learned so much today & will be mentally tougher too. Well done! 👏

Thanks Annieapple 😀this week was tough I’ve repeated the runs x4 now and I’m happy with the last two as completed. It became a real battle of will after I felt the second one was also a bit of a flop but you are absolutely right it is good for mental strength too. It was just a little humbling as last time round I actually breezed through the program without repeating after week one. Other than 1-2 aborted runs which I went out and did the following day. But this is a different journey and I need to keep that in mind.

Well done for getting through this when you obviously weren't enjoying it. Some days we just don't, others the wind is at our feet and joie de vivre gives us wings. Keeping my fingers crossed your next run is the second sort.

PS very glad that Nugget is OK

Goodness...that sounds a bit frightening for you and Nugget!

Excellent perseverance but a repeat might give you a bit more confidence to approach the rest of Week 4.

Nicely done getting out there and planning ahead...

It was certainly a peak point on the heart rate monitor but we have moved on now. We keep plodding on and repeating but the end of week 4 is now in sight!

It is positive plus your accommodating Nugget and other things to. There’s more to it than putting one foot in front of the other. But it’s all part of the journey. It’s just as important to build your mental strength as it is your physical. We bounce back and become more resilient. We learn from our mistakes. I’m doing week 6 run 3 later. I haven’t mapped the route. It’s in a nature reserve. I’ll wait for the bell to ring then turn back. Or I’ll keep going in a loop and when I’m done I’ll walk back the rest of the way. I’ll fine tune it as I go along.

Thanks Baggieboy61 for the support. I’m toying with taking nugget for a run at her favourite nature reserve near me too but I worry about leaving paved roads and falling in isolation as I have a remarkable track record for tripping over thin air. How did your final run of week 6 go?

Bless you. I know this was a while ago now but I hope you're OK 🥰 I really enjoy reading your posts (you could be a writer! 😃), except for the hassles you've had this time though of course, and I'm rooting for you!

Thanks so much, honestly this week has been harder than I remember it being and I was mostly repeating runs to try to crack it. Didn’t want to bore everyone with my trials and tribulations over the last 3 runs over multiple posts so consolidated into one post. I’m glad you enjoy reading through my journey, I try not to take myself too seriously but also try to include self reflection. And thank you for checking in, I’m grand, just quietly plodding along. Thank you for rooting for me too, it means a lot. Xx
