Nike Run App

Hi everyone, me again. Thanks for the recommendations re the Nike Run App. I tried it out this morning, and asked it to tell me when I'd done a 30min run. But wow, it tells me I've run so fast - it tells me I've done far longer distance than I know I have. Is it known to be inaccurate? I had GPS on, so I don't understand how it was so way out. It said I'd done almost 6k, but I know it was more like 4! Any ideas?

Hmmm…I have usually found the app spot on….just check your settings if you think it’s so far out?

It is as Mummycav says, usually accurate... sometimes there are glitches...I know Bluebirdrunner had a glitch last week and got a really impressive personal best :)

I have a love/hate relationship with this app. It's stats/time/distances often do not match my garmin, sometimes it won't save and it logs me out for no reason so I lose all my saved runs (All of which happened this morning) Aargh!! So I use it only for the coaching and totally ignore the run data it produces. Personally, I think the app has too many glitches to be trustworthy as a source of record keeping.

Is there a way to use the app for inspiration on where to run and let garmin send the stats to it?

Not that I'm aware of. Garmin and the NRC app run independently of each other. If I'm somewhere new, I use the OS mapping app for inspiration for running routes, but my run data is still all in Garmin.

I've found it to be generally accurate, I think the inaccuracies are down to phone GPS rather than the app - but I could be wrong.

I did have to crop a run once where I'd run a really good time (for me), I looked at the map and there was a scribble in the middle - which included a world record in the 400m! So of you think it's inaccurate look at the map.

I agree. Phone GPS is not as accurate as Garmin GPS in my experience.

I've had this too with NRC, the last time I'm pretty sure it was due to my location and, as CosmicBuffalo said, the phone GPS.For some reason it also under records my local Parkrun course at 4.88 km.

Garmin will randomly tell me my pace was under 2 mins/km (definitely wrong).

Take all the numbers with a pinch of salt and just enjoy the run😁

I've found it to be totally random. On my 9KM run at the weekend it told me I had run 1.2 KM at a pace of 44 mins...it's only as good as the GPS on your phone. Running watches are better, but even they are not spot on. I often run the same route and get different distances...

The app is good for the guided runs if that's your bag, but even they are not very accurate on distance.

The dreaded 'now run as fast as you can for 30 seconds' command, then the app glitches and you don't realise and just assume that time is passing ever slower...

Thankfully that doesn't happen too often lol

Ha ha yes! And two minutes have gone, and you're still sprinting!

You might still be sprinting after 2 minutes Curlygurly2 , if I tried to keep it up for that long I think I'd be incapacitated 😂
