what a difference a week makes…. Or does it?!

I graduated Friday before last, so 11 days ago now. I hadn’t run since that due to it being a bank holiday weekend and overdoing it in a 3 day weekend sort of fashion 😅. It then took me all week to recover and I found myself feeling quite sluggish at work etc…

Anyway, I stepped out for my first run since graduating C25K but thought I would repeat the final run of week 9 rather than moving onto the first stepping stone run and blowing it as I wasn’t feeling confident due to the lay off. But what I found was I still had it in me to run for the 30 minutes and I could have carried on for a bit. I struggled around 20 mins and could have walked but I kept going and I’m glad I did.

I see this as a huge psychological victory in my own mind because I thought I would have lost my momentum and progress. So it just goes to show, if you have a setback (in my case, self inflicted) then it’s not the end of the world and you might be able to pick up where you left off. ✌️

🍏Thanks for posting! Well done 👍 No fitness is lost for two weeks but as you say it’s more the loss of confidence after a mini break. Don’t forget to start off slowly and gain your momentum towards the end of your run , rather than the other way round. Enjoy! 😊

Thank you. Yes, that’s quite true about momentum. Can’t wait to try the first stepping stone run tomorrow 😊

What an excellent result for your first run since graduating. I'm doing pretty well in keeping up with three runs/week but one day the 30 min fun will be pretty easy and enjoyable and then the next will not be!

Keep that in mind and try not to psych yourself out. Even if you hadn't made it to 30, a run is a run is a run!! And well done for that!
