Myself and my wife have just resumed couch to 5K after a break for Christmas. I completed the programme in spring last year, unfortunately due to a couple of family bereavements over the summer, I didn't keep up to my running. Started the programme again from scratch again in the Autumn with my wife, running with her as part motivation and part safety, we got to week 8 before the weather and Christmas got the better of us. Started again this week on week 5, which was just about right for us, got the running mojo back again.

Myself and my wife are in our late forties, and never been runners throughout or lives, but we absolutely love the couch to 5K programme, and cannot stress enough, not only the physical benefits, but the mental benefits from it, the release of Endorphins at the end of a run is addictive, and so good for our mental wellbeing.

If anyone has been a bit stop start with the programme, for whatever reason, stick with it, once you restart, you will be surprised at how fit you still are.

🍏Welcome back to the two of you! Well done for getting stuck into the program again. Week 5 is a great restart with those 8min runs and fewer breaks.

This is a good time to work abductor stretches into your cool down. Sit on the floor and place the soles of your feet together, using your elbows to push down on your knees to increase the stretch.

Let us know how you get on! Thanks for posting and encouraging others. Yes there is nothing like that feeling at the end of a run is there!
