After a full week's break due to several factors, I finally completed W9R2 on my third attempt!!!!πͺπͺπͺ
I was so worried that I might have forgotten how to run after taking a break.....but my fears were unfounded. After toxic 10, the running legs simply kicked in and I ran......and ran.....and kept running until I finished 5.3k in 47mins!!!!π±π±π±π π π
I ran along the beach.....so the beautiful scenery definitely was a plus point. Still run at a sedated snail's paceπππ....but I'm very happy to be running!!!!! π
I have rambled on the last few days due to being frustrated with my "not-so-successful" treadmill attempts.....and my running buddies came out in full force to keep me sane and motivated with all their wonderful tips and advice. Thank you!π
So, for anyone worrying about being able to re-start after a break, I am proof that you can and you will......all in good time. Patience is an extra lesson that C25K teaches you.
Brilliant. so happy for you Hotheels! You sound so upbeat and positive again! πππππππ
Hey, watch this space, Iβm going to run my first 5k on Thursday (did 4k just now). Bets are on how long itβll take me (and I mean looooong!! π π π )
You'll be fine!! I didn't set out to do 5k today......i just kept on with my slow plod. Does it matter how long it takes????!!! Absolutely not!!
That you're geared up and happy to run is the main thing......
Cheeky.....look at us....we're fretting about distance now and not even considering that we think running for more than 30mins regularly is completely normal.......ππππ
Sending you tons of luck for Thursday xxxxπππ
Aww thanks! I know, I know! On June 11th I started my C25K journey and could barely make it though the 1 minute runs! Now weβre running 30+ minutes and loving it? Unbelievable isnβt it? ππππ
Iβm looking forward to the 5k. A lovely massive milestone - and youβve just spurred me on BIG TIME!!! ππ»πββοΈππ»
And of course thereβs the even more exciting prospect of your graduation run! When??? πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈππππππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»
OMG weβve soooo got this! Bring on Thursday! πͺπ»πͺπ»πββοΈπββοΈππ»ππ» And I have a case of πΎπΎπΎ waiting for you on the podium! πππ
Good luck Hotheels! β€οΈβ€οΈπͺπ»πͺπ»ππ
Same!! I lived my whole life near the seaside until I moved to UK.....I miss it too!
And I think I only felt able to push myself to get to 5k simply because hearing the waves kept me calm! π
Thank you x
Well done, yay! I had meant to reply to your previous post on this, but, you know, I suck at life sometimes Seriously though, your perseverence will pay off big-time, and you did it. You're not actually *supposed* to run 5k in week 9 you know, and especially not in those heels. Did you get gait analysis done before getting those?
So... podium up next, right? Your extra runs will really help I think, I'm quite sure you'll sail to victory no problem. Oh what a lovely running route too. I used to live right by the sea so I always get nostalgic when I see pictures like yours.
I can't do treadmills. At least the two attempts I've had in running shops have ended in failure. I just can't do it!! If you've mastered treadmill running at all them I'm pretty much in awe. No, I just get nice uneven surfaces, puddles, tree roots, and the thought that if I go too wrong I may get wet from falling in the canal. What I do love though, is the fresh air, birdsong and just the general feeling of freedom I get.
That's exactly the way I feel too.......I don't live in the countryside though......but do have some lovely large parks nearby....which I plan to explore during my post grad consolidation runs.......I really enjoy running amid trees and nature. Coming across a babbling brook would be my idea of running heaven.....knotted tree roots and all!!
I have used the treadmill before for brisk walking.....I just haven't been able to run on it. But Berksrover says it's not physically different......and it's probably a mental mindblock. So I'm going to give it a decent go.....and see how I get on......π
My fabulous mentor told me to keep believing in myself......that setbacks are simply stepping stones to well-deserved success.....he told me to trust my body in being able to tell me when it was ok to push and when I needed to stop.
I did just that.....and voila!!!! Look where it took me.......!!!!π
Congrats in making it. You didnβt give up and you have done it. At first you may have felt a little deflated but look at you run 2 penultimate run accomplished. Proud of you hotheels. Lovely scenery as well.
Thanks so much!! It does feel great to have persevered........and I hope that it helps others realise that sticking to it and not giving up eventually yields results.
The scenery is a great bonus.....I think it's what spurred me on to keep running until I got the 5k mark.....!!!!!π
Yay Hotheels ! Just got back from my run and so pleased to see this! You've got your mojo back now and graduation is just around the corner. Absolutely brilliant ππππββοΈ
I ran my "graduation run" today......I stuck to 30mins and only managed to complete 3.5k including runs.
So, definitely no wings or voodoo magic in my heels!!π
I think with W9R2 I was just so happy to be running again after having to have a week long break due to my right knee niggle, I just ran and ran until i had nothing left in the tank....lol!!π€£π€£ππ
