Visiting my Dad this weekend gave me the opportunity to do my first ever parkrun in the park I played in as a child. I am so glad I did it. There were runners of all age groups and levels of ability and everybody was so welcoming and encouraging.
Parkrun, I have found, is a brilliant community event that caters for everybody. It was so much fun to take part and a very different experience to my usual solo runs. I promised myself i would take it very gently and walk the first few hundred metres. That didn't go even remotely to plan. I ran the entire 5k, pushed myself far too hardand finished utterly exhausted but will definitely be doing more. That was such a lot of fun!

Thanks so much, I suspect we all go charging off the first time is that we are so excited to be something that seemed impossible a few weeks before when running for 5 minutes seemed like a mountain to climb. Such great fun though! 😀
We are all guilty of doing that on our first one 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Well done on completing it but do try and take it easier next time round as we have to build our bodies gradually 👍
Haha, yes I'm definitely not wanting to repeat the same mistake. I've felt shattered all day. In fact I just remembered that week 5 run 3 had much the same effect after I got over excited. Reckon an extra day off might be in order. It really was a fun thing to do though!
So glad you enjoyed it. They are a great start to the weekend. I did my first one in ,July 21, and thought I might do one every now and the, haha, I'm doing my 100 one shortly, and have made so many friends 😊
Thanks so much for the inspiration. Nearly brought your century up already, that's impressive! I was thinking one every few months but can see myself getting hooked too. 😀
