Week 9 Run 1 - Parkrun round 3 :-)

Bloody hell that was hard!

It was soooo hot, also a different route to usual so I had no idea how to pace myself! Not sure I can technically count it as I did have to stop and walk at 27 mins for a bit to get my breath back. Stopped again as I got onto the pier because the finish line was further away than I had anticipated which was a psychological blow! A teenage girl ran alongside me and said come on you're nearly there - I somehow found the energy to run across the line :-)

I was aiming sub 30mins and I think I just missed it - the guys coming in just behind me had timed themselves at 30:17. Will update my time when I receive it. ETA just got my time 30 mins exactly!!! Pretty chuffed about that :-)

As anticipated it was much, much harder to run the whole thing (I have previously walked the first 5 mins) but still good fun.

Well Done to everyone running today especially those of you taking part in Parkrun x

Hey my lovely!! Well done you!! They changed the route? Some BH nonsense probs.

U r doing fantastically well. I think there's something in the air today. I struggled through W6R1.

But we both got there!! No run is ever wasted. Chin up. Keep the faith. You are so close to stardom now!!

Thank you!

It was to raise money for the defribrilliator that's (slightly worringly😂) kept on the Pier . Have read about people struggling with the heat on here but that's the first time I've experienced it!

Well done on getting through your run today x

Cheers hon! Enjoy your weekend. Have fun with the little one next week and come back refreshed and ready. No stresssing about W9 ok? You're only a gnat's wotevas away from the podium now and it'll only take one of those fab Haydn Piano Sonata last movements to get you over the line!!! :-)

Thank you and you. I love the Hadyn Piano Sonatas - part of me always thinks that even when it appears quite serious he's taking the piss a bit :-)

Thanks Dave - I know you're right!

Training with my son during half term for next week's Parkrun. He's asthmatic so won't manage 30mins straight. Think what I'll probably do is restart Week 9 the following week x

Well done! You're very fast! I'm nowhere near 5k let alone 5k in 30 mins !! So you did really well!

Thank you!

Don't forget I started from a position of pretty good fitness levels - I just didn't think I could run! 5k in 30 mins is a realistic goal for me.

You're doing great - just running for 30 mins (no matter how far) is a real achievement :-)

I had to stop for a few seconds for the first time ever today! Pacers week and I went off too fast trying to keep too close to the pacer! Managed a PB though. You’re doing well though! Fab time!

Well done - you survived but not only that- you did amazingly well! Sounds fantastic, especially in the heat. At least you’ve had a taste of a parkrun now. Still a bit daunting for me at the mo.

Have a lovely week running with your son x

Great run! Great time too!

I nervous now about our Sussex graduation run! Youll have to wait for sallenson and I in the pub! 😃

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate in reply toMarvo69

Oh I definitely won't mind waiting in the pub 😂

To be honest going that fast is tough - I'd happily use you two as an excuse to slow down!

Sorry I didn’t respond sooner! Sounds like a tough one but you smashed it!! Bit of walking is fine - the fact you finished and in a great time is what counts. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 X

Thank you! Actually really looking forward to doing it tomorrow with my son. We're doing intervals of 2 mins walking, 1 minute running so it will be much more relaxed :-)

All being well I'll do my graduation run in it next week at a steady pace, then the week after is pacers week so I'll aim sub 30 again then. Are you running in yours tomorrow?

Ripcurlrana71 profile image
Ripcurlrana71 in reply topianoteacher

Oh great!! No not going to till I nail 5km at ease. Still find it tough in last km. and with those damn hills!!

pianoteacher profile image
pianoteacherGraduate in reply toRipcurlrana71

I'm so glad we don't have hills! Sounds like a good plan to consolidate the 5k.

I've got a Parkrun plan to do one a month with my son, a relaxed no time pressure one, one with a pacer to get my time down and one as a volunteer. I just don't think I would enjoy (or achieve) running it flat out every time x

Ripcurlrana71 profile image
Ripcurlrana71 in reply topianoteacher

Will aim for one at end of June but only if it’s not hot and sunny! Good luck for tomorrow. 💪🏼
