1st Parkrun complete!

Hi everyone I completed my first parkrun yesterday. Wasn't a great time of 44 minutes but I managed to not walk and the heat was unreal. Been buzzing ever since! Would never have believed I could do it 9 weeks ago!

Today tho I am so so sore I literally cannot move and could cry. I stretched before and after and that was my 3rd 5k run (which I didn't hurt after). Going to put it down to the heat.

So chuffed...and isn't parkrun just the most amazing event?!

Absolutely amazing! Love them! Pop a couple of ibuprofen 💪🏽

Well done! You’ll be hooked on them now!

Brilliant, well done. That’s the exact same time as me for 5k.

Likely that you were more dehydrated than usual and your muscles are making you suffer for it. I did a 5k street run yesterday and my legs are very achey today.

Same. I so needed a hot soak yesterday and there is just no way in this heat!

I did my second Parkrun yesterday, last Saturday being my first and as Tasha99 said, you will be hooked.

After 9 weeks of solo running, it is great to run with 100's of others. The good thing is, and it backs up what you say about the heat, if you look at the official table on your Parkrun's website, you'll see that even the best runners are struggling to hit their PBs when running in hot weather. You're breathing harder, you're sweating more (my shirt and shorts were soaked yesterday), the heat just saps your energy. So don't beat yourself up with a 44 minute run, it'll make that little bit easier to set a new PB next time. :) :) :)
