I am currently on week 4 run 3 of couch to 5k. I am really enjoying running and was thinking of doing my first park run tomorrow? Is it too soon? I know I would have to walk a lot and I haven’t really ran infront of people before so quite nervous! Thoughts would be appreciated! Thankyou :)

Go for it! They are so inclusive! I did a run from c25k each week at parkrun, doing whatever I was asked to and then just walking the rest. I even did the 5 minute warm when everyone set off. Was still not last at any time, not that that matters!

Just go... warm up well, stick to the run times and enjoy.

You will not be the last and everyone will make you welcome! Just try to keep to your own happy pace and don't be tempted to move too quickly in your running intervals:) x

It’s never too soon! Parkrun is for everyone - my only regret is I didn’t go along sooner!

I thought you have to run - WRONG!

I thought you had to be fast (whatever that means) - WRONG!

If you want to keep tabs on the number you do (there’s milestone T-shirts) monitor your own times, then make sure you register and get a barcode - take it with you - all will be explained by the wonderful volunteers…

It’s also good to volunteer - it only exists because of volunteers and it’s a great community.

Go along, join in, have fun!

I can only agree - you don’t have to run all the way, or at all x just go and enjoy being outdoors with a lovely bunch of like minded people xx good luck x

Go for it!

You’ve triggered responses that have inspired me to have a go before graduating C2K. It’s quite daunting if, like me, you haven’t run in a group since school (and were always at the back then). But then, so was W1R1, and we’ve both managed that 😀.

I am so pleased you've asked this as I had been wondering the same thing! I have volunteered at parkrun but have never taken part. Good luck if you've decided to go for it today.

Hey! Congrats!

How was it? I am currently at week 5 myself and am also considering joining parkrun. How much running and walking did you do?”

Thankyou! Really enjoyed it! Just did my usual week on couch 2 5k and then walked the rest and ran when I could. There’s plenty of people walking tho and everyone spurs you on. Was a friendly environment for my first time, definitely recommend and good luck if you do!!

Well done you! I did my first parkrun this morning too and absolutely loved it. It's such a wonderful weekly event that brings people together to enjoy keeping moving in the great outdoors.
