Stanley and I did our first parkrun this morning. He barely broke a sweat whereas I on the other hand..... It's the longest he has ever run and he did amazingly! We only walked once for a short while halfway round and then he ran the rest of the way round. He really has the running bug now and wants to go again! We even did another kilometre on the way home.
For anyone who is nervous about doing a parkrun, as I was, don't be! It was ace. The people who run it are lovely and really encouraging all the way round. I am going to try and move my work hours around a bit (perks of being the boss!) so I can go more often.
I strava'd the run and the only thing I did notice was that some people on strava had theor run at 5k whereas mine said 4.8k, oh well! strava.com/activities/93269...

Oh, well done to you and your young'un! They really do lead the way with this running don't they? What it is to be young! I have only done Parkrun once as working Mon - Fri I have always used the weekend for my long run day. However, having ticked off my HM goal a few weeks ago(😀) I am now going to focus on my 5 and 10k for a bit so have promised myself a few Parkruns! Still healing after my op at the moment but hope to be back out their soon. Happy weekend!🙂
Just the right time to get the young man involved in running. It will stand him in good stead in later life if he sticks with it. He'll be leaving you for dust soon🏃🚀
Hi, well done Stanley. I ran with my 11 year old daughter "around the block" a couple of weeks ago. She had to keep stopping for me to catch up! She was really keen last night to parkrun with me... But at 8am this morning there was no getting her out of bed for love n' money! Too tired from swimming yesterday!!! I shall try to use you as an example to shame her into running with me again!
