I'm on holiday in Spain but packed my running kit so I can stay on top of the prediabetes and enjoy my holiday.
Week 6 run 3 is a 25 minute run with no walking breaks. There was light rain in Malaga so the smooth tiled pavements were rather slippery. This was actually hugely beneficial because it meant I was forced to go a lot more slowly than usual and I seem to have found a good (very slow) sustaibable tempo. I felt I could have run for much longer instead of my usual state of near collapse. This is definitely the way ahead!
Week 7 marks the end of walk breaks and consists of three 25 minute runs. Today I did run 1 and went at the same slow pace as last time. Again, I didn't suffer feelings of exhaustion and wanting to quit. These last 2 runs have been my most enjoyable so far. Obviously running alongside the Mediterranean helps but taking it more slowly is the bigger factor. All the posts and advice from more experienced runners have been so helpful. This is such a good support network, I can't thank everybody enough for the help and encouragement on offer here. 😀

Sounds perfect, it's just great when you get to that ' I could run all day' pace, those longer steady runs will eventually get a bit faster with the same amount of effort. Enjoy Spain
Many thanks for your encouragement, it seems so weird to run for 25 minutes and not feel tired when 3 minutes of running was utterly exhausting only a few weeks ago!
Many thanks, the encouragement and advice from the good people here, like you, has been such a help. I am so impressed with how well devised the plan is. At first I had my doubts but whoever put it together really knew what they were doing.
I'll be sure to give you a big wave when I cross the finish line!
Such dedication continuing the programme on holiday but it seems to have done the trick! It’s so great when you find your rhythm and now you are on the longer runs you have found your ideal pace by the sounds of it. It never ceases to amaze me how good the programme is to get us from heavy breathing after a one minute continuous run to being able to run non stop for thirty minutes!
Bunting and party poppers ready for cheering you over the finish line!
That's so kind of you. I thought a few early morning jogs round Malaga would be just the ticket. We were in Granada for a few days too but the hilly terrain was challenging enough for walking so the running shoes were given a break.
Yes the programme is just brilliant. I remember doing week 1 and looking ahead at week 5 and thinking was asking too much too soon. I will never claim it was easy but it was doable by just doing what every piece of advice suggests and going as slowly as I needed.
