Week 7 - done and dusted :)

Run 1 - Treadmill. Wanted to do another 25 minute run on the treadmill before venturing outside! For those on a treadmill and wondering about speeds: mine is a very old treadmill but it does the trick, it's not been calibrated ever, so I don't know if these speeds are correct, but I started off running at 7.5k and at halfway through, 12.5 mins, went up to 7.8k with the idea of going up to 8.2k for the last 5 minutes. But when I got to nearly 20 minutes I was very tired so decided to keep to 7.8k until the last minute, when I upped the speed to 8.2. So - I've now done 25 mins twice therefore I can do it again! :)

Run 2 - Treadmill. A good run, went slightly slower as I went too fast for run 1 I think. Decided to do it all at 7.5k and this felt much better. Upped it at the last minute to 8.2k. Done the 25 minute run 3 times now, so feeling more confident that the long runs will be ok

Run 3 - Ventured outside into the park again, but this time at 11am rather than my usual 8.30am, so this meant I'd have to alter my eating routine. Had breakfast at 9am, cup of water before I went out and off I went. Went really well, there were quite a few steep inclines in the park, one of which comes at a really early stage and I thought I couldn't manage any more and then suddenly it was over and a downhill bit. The other inclines weren't as long but quite steep. I'm still running quite slowly, I ran with the Garmin and over the 25 minute run I was averaging 7.32k which isn't great, but as I'm not used to running outside especially on steep inclines I don't suppose it's too bad. My initial goal for doing this was to run for 30 minutes 3 times a week and suddenly I'm working out pace, distance etc etc but I know that will come after I graduate :)

Still can't believe that only a couple of weeks ago I was running for 5 mins in one section thinking how brilliantly I was doing and now I'm running for 25 mins in one go!! Amazing. Roll on week 8! :)

Well done Minuette, you are just over a week ahead of me and it's great to read your progress. I too can't believe how much I've progressed in such a short space of time!

Hi, I also did this run today. After my bad 'heat' run last time I was a little apprehensive but much cooler today and it actually went very well. I too can't believe how quickly the weeks pass and how we have built up run length. I still feel really positive about it all, how about you? Long may it continue.

Yes I feel really positive about it too and I know I can achieve the 30 minute run :) After all we've done 25 mins, so I'm sure we'll be ok with the 28 and then 30 mins :)
