Yay - I've seen off Week 6!

Morning Everyone! After a miserable-slog of a Week 6, I've just done the third run, the 25-minuter...and the joy has returned! In fact, I think I may accidentally have run for longer than that because my daughter rang me (amazing I was even able to talk!!) and the call must have cut off - or paused - the C25K app. I only wondered where Denise Lewis had gone when I began to think I was tiring and my knee started twinging. I may have run 30 mins or so without realising.

Funny thing, running. The first 10 mins or so required effort and concentration, then quite suddenly everything fell into an easier rhythm - breathing got easier, heart calmed down a bit, legs easier...and an illusion of being able to jog on forever. Was that the much-fabled runner's euphoria? Or just my ancient body getting fitter? It probably lasted about 5-10 mins before I started to tire.

I still think Japanese Slow Running is the best way through this programme! Week 7 beckons.

Have a great week everyone!

🍏🎶Yay!! You certainly are feeling those happy hormones kicking in! Well done for persisting to the end of week 6.. those first 10 mins often labelled the toxic ten can feel brutal some days. But you overcame and are now into the longer runs which you are going to love! Well done!!

So glad the joy returned. Not so worried about 6/2 and 6/3 after reading this. Good luck next week 😁

Congratulations, you deserve to be very proud of yourself and do you realise that after completing run 3 of week 6 you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, well done, onwards and upwards to week 7 which are all 3/25 minute runs.

poor you - running with a heavy cold is neither possible nor advisable. Hope you feel better soon!

Well done maisiesgranny! Agree slow Japanese running is a game changer. Can slow down but still be running rather than head home in a huff.

I’m 68 and doing C25K for the third time. I was slow the first time, in my late 50’s but now I run at a snails pace. However, unlike when I first started I don’t worry or stress about it, I just go with the flow. Slow running has been brilliant as I now slot in somewhere and don’t feel the need to go faster than I feel comfortable with. Keep up the good work 👍 and happy running 🏃‍♀️
