Week 8 Run 2 ☀️🥵

Another hot one! Left the house just before 6:00 am, couldn’t manage any earlier this morning. I was about to leave earlier, but I noticed that a glass pane in my front door had shattered so I was faffing about panicking about that!

So off I go, wondering how I was going to cope in the heat today. It was about 16 degrees. Oh boy! 4 degrees warmer that my super early start on Wednesday. Same plan as before. Start slowly and gradually increase if I’m up to it.

I went on my route that starts downhill, then fairly level before an incline, then downhill for a while before levelling off.

First km very slow and downhill. No effort at all, just how I like it! Soon after the start of the second km, I was making more effort, largely because of the heat, but I did find a reasonably comfortable pace. Because I’ve extended my route slightly at the beginning, the uphill part comes at the beginning of the third km - but then there is a downhill part, too. I was able to increase pace over that last km but I was pretty much done then and slowed down right at the end! Interestingly, Strava didn’t show that I slowed down 😊 but Garmin did (and I know I did).

Pleased with that run. Increased distance, negative splits for the 3K and improved pace, even in the heat! Don’t worry, it’s still really slow 🐌🐌🐌

That's a lie in for you Jools! Well done on the run 2 of week 8. You are very much in control by the sounds of things. Its funny how Garmin and Strava bicker with each other like that.

And how odd with your glass door pane.

Thank, Diane. I’m certainly enjoying these runs!

I’ve spoken with the contractor who fitted the door. He said that often when this happens, it’s due to small stones being kicked up by a lawn mower. He asked for a photo and when he saw it he confirmed that this would most likely be what happened. My neighbour mowed our front lawns yesterday! I don’t feel I can ask him to pay for it as there isn’t definitive proof and my relationship with him is more important than the money.

Well I doubt he did it on purpose and a good relationship with neighbours is important.

Yes, it is and we take it in turns to mow the front.

Well done Jools, it is really warm, I had planned to go out but decided some cleaning needed to be done then started painting then a friend text to suggest a swim, no contest. Walked at 7 yesterday evening and it was still 22 degrees,

Hope your glass is fixed soon

A swim sounds divine!

Glass won’t be fixed for a couple of weeks. I’ve taped it now to stop the small pieces falling out and it’s fine to be left. There are still 2 layers of glass in place, so I don’t have a hole in the window!

Everything takes longer than hoped for, but at least no hole

Another good one Jools, you and your negative splits, don't know how you do it! I've been to yoga this morning, not the same as running but hopefully will help with it long term. 🙏 . I still worked up a sweat though! Have a good weekend 😀

Thanks! I’m sure yoga will help with running, anything you can do to try and keep fit. Enjoy your weekend, too 😊 x
