Tonight was cooler, I couldn't face another run on the treadmill and the pollen count hasn't dropped enough to run outside without medication and an inhaler, so figure 8s around the dining room table and the kitchen island it was!
It was barefoot as I broke my big toe nail and it hurts to run in my trainers, so it made a nice change.
My house isn't very big, but it is open plan so I can run around and around - I lost count how many figure 8s I did, but it was a lot
Interestingly, I had no calf ache running barefoot, either I have gotten stronger or my feet work more and take some of the work out of my calves? who knows....to be continued. I won't be running barefoot outside any time soon that's for sure. I may buy some zero drop sandals for the summer and see how I get on with those though, we'll see how the budget goes.
Onward and upwards!

.... and round and round, I felt quite dizzy reading about that 30 minute consolidation run around your dining room table, well done but did you not feel a bit dizzy running around it probably at least 100 times in a figure of 8, you probably ran about 4k, next challenge 10K 😂😂🤣🤣😜
definitely! can't wait for the pollen count to drop so I can head outside for at least my weekend run, I might still have to squeeze the week day runs in on the treadmill for a while until the holidays
Well done you... I did loads of barefoot running and walking inside during lockdown... one does get very resourceful.
I am barefoot indoors more or less all the time, and in the garden when not actually gardening... but not running though. Barefoot, or minimal footwear is recommended as the way to go, especially as you get older.
It's nice, I have ceramic floor tiles - given the heat this week, they are lovely and cool, plus, like you, I am barefoot most of the time anyway I didn't give it a second thought. Legs are fine today, we'll see tomorrow (the day after the day after aches may kick in), but it was fun. Not sure I'll make it a habit, but it's definitely a back up plan when I get bored of the treadmill when I'm consolidating and not running for distance.
This is how I started, back in January. I was too nervous to run outdoors so I ran back and forth across my living room/kitchen. Barefoot because it didn't occur to me to put trainers on. Unfortunately there's a step between the two rooms, and 7+ weeks ago I tripped on it and cracked a toe, doing W5R3. I've just got back to it but am now running in my attic room which is the same size but without a step. I like it. I can just go up there, in my pyjamas if I want, don't have to worry about the weather or carrying keys/phone/etc. I have no inclination to go outside (74, overweight, a tendency to fall), and running is running, wherever you do it.
Really well done! I walked round and round the kitchen when talking to family a few weeks ago - as part of my build up to running and to get my steps up. I was on the phone for over half an hour and just walked around the house - even up and down stairs. I agree with others, it sounds bonkers, but it absolutely works!
