I must say I love to run when it’s raining and a bit windy, I feel better than when I run with the sun beating down on me, I came back soaked this morning, but ran longer and feel so good 🌧️🌪️😃

Me! 🙋‍♀️

It makes me feel alive! I prefer rain with no wind but there’s nothing like a run in challenging weather to make you feel like a hero 💪

yes that’s exactly how I feel, it challenges me and it feels good, I only like slight wind as it feels cooling when your sweating, but I love running in the rain, I’m glad I’m not the only mad person 🤣

Let’s face it, all of us runners are a bit mad! 😂😂

hahaha, I’m a bit weird like that I love running in the rain, not torrential rain though as I wouldn’t be able to see 🤣

Oh, your certainly not on your own !If I get caught in the rain I can live with it .... But I wouldn't go out in it to start 🙂

I’m glad I’m not on my own with this, I actually like to start running in the rain, I even started my first 6 minutes of the run up a hilly road in the rain, felt good running back down it again though 😃

me me, I love the rain - not too fond of the wind though, but I can live with it

glad I’m not on my own with this, I like a slight wind as it’s cooling when sweating and challenges me a bit more

I'll never go out if it's already raining, but if it starts raining when I'm already warmed up I actually don't notice light rain. I've had wet hail and snow pellets too.

Wet and windy is not nice, though.

I go out if it’s raining already I love it but then I’m a bit mad like that 🤣

Since I cannot do anything in hot weather (my body just won't respond) a definite YES. Coming home soaked isn't an issue.

The only disadvantage with being wet, is getting creases in my socks which lead to blisters.

Also, I need to wear contact lenses, these are far more comfortable in a damp atmosphere

I’m dreading the really hot weather especially if it’s like it was last year I think it will be difficult to run in that heat, I’d have to get up super early when it’s cooler although I’m not a super early morning person, I must admit my shoes were wet through and I was wearing a new pair of ASICS so they don’t look so new now, no blisters for me and hope I don’t ever get them

Me too, I knew I was serious about this running thing when I went out for my run in the wet 'because its run-day'. ;)

haha me too, my actual run day was yesterday but swapped to today because of the rain ……gosh that’s sounds crazy!!!

I really don't mind light rain. In fact it was wet and windy this morning and I still loved it, even up a hill exposed at the top! I've been out in all weathers because it's run day too...snow, frost, wind, rain and glorious sunshine too. 🏃‍♀️

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZeldaGraduate in reply toSax64

ooh I won’t run in the snow and ice I would be too scared of slipping over and breaking something but all other weathers defo. I also enjoyed the hill run this morning was tough but oh so good

Totally drenched through this morning but was laughing to my running buddy how crazy we must be - felt great (when I was home in a hot bubble bath) 😆

XenaZelda profile image

people in cars and hooded coats this morning and there was me in just a top and bottoms singing away to the music they must have thought I was bonkers, waved at another runner as we passed by each other, only runners go out half dressed in all weathers out enjoying it when everyone else is in padded hooded coats, scarves, boots and umbrellas 🤣

it was soooo warm though - when the heavy downpour started I didn’t want to put my thin waterproof on - just ran in light t-shirt. 🙈😆

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZeldaGraduate in reply toDendev75

yes i just had a tech top under a normal baggy t shirt, no need to for a rain jacket i would have been sweating even more!

I don’t go out if it’s heavy rain, light rain is ok. But one time I got caught in a downpour it was surprisingly exhilarating though I hate water slipping about in my running shoes

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZeldaGraduate in reply toRabbit561

not really heavy rain but light to medium rain is lovely to run in, if it gets heavy when i;m out then i would still complete my run, my running shoes were wet and they were knew on that day, so they now dont look so new haha.

If it is run day I run! My metaphor is always about jumping into a sub ideal temperature pool. Getting in is the hard bit; once you dive into the water you are fine. The same applies to running in the rain, once I am out there and wet I forget about the weather and just enjoy the run. High winds are a pain. There is a limit to what I will run in, but that is probably driven by the fact that all of my runs involve woodland trails and we do get fallen branches and trees . Running in a hard hat would not be cool! You are right though; completely crazy!🤪

I'd love to do trail running, but there isn't anywhere near me that i can do that, maybe one day i will venture out and find some trail running areas, but i can imagine if you are a trail runner that rain is not so good as the it would be really muddy underfoot

Beachcomber66 profile image

Fortunately the trails I use drain really well. When it is really claggy, the outsides of the calves take a bit of a hammering; lots of rolling etc needed to stop them tightening up and becoming painful. A physio can sort it out pretty quickly if it gets too bad. All part of our learning.

I am with you, I prefer ‘weather’. I really don’t like hot, sweaty runs 😁

XenaZelda profile image

absolutely, i prefer "weather " to, i am dreading running when it gets really hot, i hope i can still run in it.

Haaaa - no. I'm a fairweather runner. If it's raining then I stay inside. I did actually run in the rain a few weeks ago and surprised myself that I didn't hate it, but I'm still likely to use the rain as an excuse not to run.

I don't mind running in the sun though. Even the heatwave last year had me outside - although I tend to run at 8am when it's cooler anyway- and I ran on holiday last year in Barbados at 7am before it got too hot.

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZeldaGraduate in reply toCrolla

gosh i hope i feel the same about running in the heat when it gets really hot, i will have to get up and out earlier, 8am or maybe even 7 to 7.30am

I also like running in the rain. I prefer to start in the dry and for it to start raining whilst I'm out. The rain keeps you cool and is just refreshing.

XenaZelda profile image
XenaZeldaGraduate in reply toJulieByf

Absolutely yes, i went for a lunchtime run today and its started out dry but half way through it started to rain, how lovely as it cooled me down and gave me a challenge to complete the run
