I went out for my run 3 of week 8 and instead of doing 28 minutes I carried on for a further 2minutes and done 30 minutes π soooooooo can I claim that as my W9 Run 1? Please say yes, please say yes β€οΈ
Run 3 of W8 or Run 1 of W9?: I went out for my... - Couch to 5K
Run 3 of W8 or Run 1 of W9?
Why the rush ?
Do you know i had a feeling you would say that to me lol, there is no rush, i am happy to do another 3 x 30 minutes to graduate, just felt that i could do another 2 minutes, your valued advice is much appreciated π
It was said slightly tongue in cheek πI guess what I really meant is try and resist the temptation to go further or faster at what is a very early and vulnerable stage in your running .
This of course will be equally as important during consolidation when the temptation can be greater .
Well done and enjoy the rest of the program π
thank you Instructor57, can't fault a girl for trying, i suppose i was too excited and wanted to post on here and someone to say okay as you have done the 30 minutes class that as the first run of W9, but deep inside i knew this wasn't right to ask, i just couldn't help myself, feeling really good today after that run this morning. I promise i will take it slowly when i graduate, i bet you get alot like me that is excited for the future as we can see the end of the tunnel which we thought would never happen
I absolutely get it !I was there 3 years ago π
And it might be the end of That tunnel but you may well then see another one on the horizon π
Well I am not really sure if I should say yes, however, congratulations to you XenaZelda on almost completing C25K with run 3 of week 8.
One of the rules of this training course is not to skip any runs and strictly keep to the program, I would count that run as run 3 of week 8 with two minutes added on, take one day off running and run the 3/30 minute runs as scheduled, good luck for run 3 of week 9, your graduation run. ππΎ π
Yes sadly i suspected as much, can't fault a girl for trying though lol but happy to do 3 x 30 minutes starting on Sunday, then 2nd run on Wednesday which means i will graduate on the 3rd run on Friday 31st March fingers crossed all goes well
What agreat day to Graduate.... I think that is perfect :Good choice!!! xxx
I understand your excitement XenaZelda π
However, since you've previously posted about consolidation and getting to 10K, I assume you're planning to continue running after C25K. So there's no point in pushing to add on time to your runs now just to get to the end of the programme as soon as possible.
It's not simply about getting C25K done - though of course everybody likes to have that Graduate badge next to their name - it's about developing your running. You'll have years to do that, and it won't all be via runs of 30 minutes or more.
Here's to your enjoying the rest of the programme, and consolidation!
Thank you Cmoi, yes i was being a bit cheeky and had to check myself, I did R1 of Week 9 on Sunday and slowed my pace so it felt really good, i do want to go a bit further like an excited 18 year old (which ofcourse i am not lol) but will ensure i get the consolidation runs first to feel comfortable and o get my body used to it before i attempt to any further, i just can't believe i am here, i never thought i could do it and here i am running for 30 minutes and i am so happy and wished i would have done it years ago. I d value all advice given and wanted to be honest even though i may get told off π€£ in the nicest way ofcourse
Take that week 8 run as a confidence boost for next week. You know you can do it. That means you can enjoy those runs all the more.
Itβs usually best to stick to the timings and the runs as the programme sets out-someone clever who knew what they were doing put it together and you donβt want to push too far or fast then get injured just as youβre about to graduate. See if you can get a personal best for happiness during week 9!
Cheeky... well you have had your answers.. the choice is yours...go on....do it right... go on, you know you want to.... I am the Badge Holder this month... so...... ππππββοΈ
PS
I am of course NOT open to bribes at all...not even champagne:)π€£π€£π€£πΎπΎπΎ
that is so funny Oldloss, i will call upon you for my badge on Friday which will be my final run of Week 9, so so happy to be here and i wouldn't dream of bribing you with champagne (well in my dreams maybe π€£ see you on Friday fingers crossed all goes well
Well done, it's great knowing that it is now within your grasp!
This'll be me next week....I've just finished W7, so I'm a week behind you. It does seem like a very short extra distance doesn't it, but I guess it's best to keep to the timetable, and just see those extra 2 mins you did as proof that you'll have no problem at all doing your W9 next week! Well done you, keep going.
Yes Pegix, i thought to myself well ive done 28 i feel good so lets see if i can do an extra 2 minutes which seemed like nothing and i knew i could do it, but ofcourse i did know this was wrong, but wanted to be honest on this forum which is good really as i had to check myself and behave myself, 2 more runs to go to graduation day for me, and well done on your progress as well, you will soon be on Week 9, i can't believe i am actually running for 30 minutes.......30 minutes!!!
Nothing wrong about it, but it just means you'll do 30mins 4 times, not 3! I know, 30 mins seems an age! Just wish I could go a bit faster tbh. I'd also like to know how far I'm running, need to put a running app on my phone too. Shame C25K app doesn't have distance on it anywhere....!!
Hi Pegix, thatβs why I bought a Garmin running watch as I stopped using the c25k podcast as the music was awful, I do my warm up walk then when Iβm ready to run I press the run/gps button and stop it when the run time is up. Oh and I would like to be a bit faster as well but I have read loads of posts on here that say the pace will naturally pick up as we become stronger and fitter and running for a while
