well this will be the third time I’ve restarted C25K and I’m sure I’ll complete it again! Need to stop not jogging because of the weather because it’s so hard to build up again. Looking forward to chatting with my jogging online colleagues 💜

Let's hope that it's 3rd time lucky for you Thickthighs, I am sure you will complete it, let's hope that the weather won't stop you from continuing with the trainning C25K program, good luck, take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, I wish you well.

I have passed this 3 times over 5 years but then then I occasionally lose mojo in the winter and now I have a puppy so convinced myself walking him would be enough lol

He'll keep you moving!!!

Alfred Wainwright said that 'there's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing'. Try and embrace the seasons, each has pleasures to give. For example, running in the rain can be tough but the sheer pleasure of jumping into a hot shower afterwards, feeling that you have achieved something, makes it worth it. Good luck!

...which is from 1973 and probably pre-dates (and may have inspired) the Billy Connolly quote:

"I hate all those weathermen, too, who tell you that rain is bad weather. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself a sexy raincoat and live a little."

I have just run in heavy rain without a coat (sexy or otherwise) and feel that I should have paid more attention to Wainwright and the Big Yin. I seem much better at doling out rather than taking advice!

Heavy showers here too. I'm hoping to get in a short run between them very soon.

I had a nasty fall a few years ago and badly broke my arm resulting in extensive surgery so I have a fear of falling I just can’t seem to get over. It’s the snow and ice that puts me off so I’m using a treadmill for now. Thank you for the luck!

That sounds like a really sensible plan. If it’s icy or particularly snowy underfoot, I wouldn’t be out either. It’s not worth it.

Sorry about your arm-that must have been horrible. Wishing you loads of luck for your new running journey 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

The snow and ice has gone for now, replaced with horribly heavy rain.

I really don't like going out when it's raining, but if it rains on me when I'm out and active, I'm not usually bothered by it. (Moderate rain, that is, not a deluge.)

I always get wet toes from puddles (my shoes are in no way waterproof) but synthetic socks help a lot with that.

Having the occasional tumble is unfortunately part of the experience. The things that have got me so far are tree roots (twice), a lifted joint on a pontoon bridge in a gloomy tunnel, and a cut-off stub of a bus shelter support. I have slipped on black ice once and ended up on my bum. Thankfully nothing more than gravel embedded in blooded knees, and a bruised or scratched forehead have resulted.

And each time my other half has told me off for picking myself up and finishing the run rather than calling for her to pick me up.

Sorry to hear of your fall that sounds horrible. We don't have that much ice and snow usually so using the treadmill occasionally seems like a good contingency plan.

If he's a suitable sort, you could train your dog to walk to heel on a running lead, so when he's old enough he could come out with you. My dog is my constant running companion and we have had great adventures.
