I started running this morning in the sleet and snow. By the time I’d finished the moon was shining brightly in a (nearly) cloud-free sky and the sun was just about to wake up. I know it’s corny but it felt like a metaphor for the last nine weeks! 😊
This forum has played a big part in getting me safely to the end. Thank you all for the encouragement and sage advice.
I’m going to keep running and hopefully stay strong.

Excellent Chickenears. Well done for getting out there in the cold and getting the job done. I like that metaphor! I was out looking at the sky late last night. We had a very clear view of the Moon and Mars together. If I had stayed up until 5am this morning I would have seen the Moon eclipse Mars for about an hour …… but decided that sleep was the better option! My turn to dress up warm and head out now!🥶
Thank you Beachcomber66 ! Sleep is so often the better option! I hope it wasn't too cold when you did go out. I saw the moon and a bright object close together last night too. I didn't realise it was Mars but it was beautiful.
I like looking at the planets; Fortunately I have an app on my IPad which makes it easy for me. This morning was pretty cold, but I had the right clothing. Getting used to breathing in the cold air took a couple of minutes, but otherwise it felt ok. I was sensible about the route I took; not too far from home or my favourite cafe if things got too bad. It helped that there was virtually no wind. I think it is all ok provided you are dressed to stay dry and warm.
I was walking my neighbour's dog Holly a little later on Wednesday afternoon just after the sunset around 4 o'clock and looking east saw the full Moon with Mars very near, as the evening progressed Mars got nearer the moon, I woke up at 4.45 am on Thursday to see the moon eclipsing Mars and by around 6.30 saw Mars back again on "the other side of the Moon", I have never seen that before, a unique situation.
That was the occultation I slept through Al. Well done you for seeing it!
I often check out what there is to see on a clear night. A bit of knowledge helped me when I was stuck with a tipsy navigator in the middle of a Canadian lake a few years ago. It was, stars and planets apart, almost jet black. I remembered that we had been looking at Jupiter a day or two before, so I knew that we needed to go 90 degrees west from our current position( the opposite direction from which we were travelling!). We were soon back at the jetty, aided by a lamp being swung by our daughter. You never know when snippets you pick up are going to come in handy do you?
That’s absolutely fantastic news! You need to be doing some serious celebration. 🥳🎉🏅👩🎓🏃♀️
I think Cmoi and Instructor57 have just about covered the best links to read about what’s next!! Everyone still around to cheer you on wherever those runner’s legs take you next. Massive well done again.
Fantastic achievement and great that you were hyper sensitive to your environment. The absolute joy of running on an extended challenge - 9 weeks ago were you starting in a late hot summer?
Thank you Chinkoflight ! It was certainly warmer two months ago but even then I remember having wet shoes at the end of my morning runs. I have found that I warm up pretty quickly when running, though.
love it how you are in the moment , enjoying your surroundings all part of mindfulness. Well done you. My 9th week is next week and I cannot wait to graduate.
Thank you Mezzysu . I run in the mornings before work so it’s often really nice to see the stars and the first rays of sunlight. Congratulations on making it to week 9; you’ll be graduated before you know it.
